Panasonic’s Home Theatre TV, Digital Imaging Innovations and 4K BD Player recognised at EISA awards 2016

Wiesbaden, Germany (15th August, 2016) – Panasonic today announced it has been presented with four prestigious awards by the European Imaging Sound Association’s (EISA).

Two awards for its TX-65DX900E television and its DMP-UB900 4K Blu-ray player demonstrate Panasonic’s competence in reproducing excellent picture and sound quality, while two additional awards recognise Panasonic’s achievement in Digital Imaging innovations – one for the image quality of Panasonic’s best-selling travel zoom compact camera, the DMC-TZ100, and one for the unique Dual I.S. software system available to Panasonic’s latest mirrorless camera family members DMC-GX80 and DMC-GX8. Dual I.S. offers highly sophisticated image stabilisation to both enthusiasts and professional photographers.

Panasonic’s Ultra HD Player DMP-UB900 has been named ‘European Ultra HD Player 2016-2017; the Home Theatre TV TX-65DX900E has been awarded ‘European Home Theatre TV 2016-2017; the LUMIX DMC‐TZ100 has been named ‘European Travel Compact Camera 2016-2017’; while Panasonic’s DUAL I.S. System has been awarded ‘European Photo Innovation 2016-2017’.

Established in 1982, the EISA is a multimedia association that tests consumer electronic products. With a membership including 50 audio, mobile, video and photo magazines from 22 European countries, EISA’s awards are known as one of the most prestigious consumer recommendations that products can receive, and a key indicator for the best consumer purchasing decisions.

European Ultra HD Player 2016-2017: Panasonic DMP-UB900

The EISA jury felt that Panasonic’s Ultra HD Player DMP-UB900 brought an instantly visible upgrade to the AV experience. Its 4K HDR images were a clear improvement over Full HD BD players on the market, offering a great amount of detail, smooth colour gradations and quite extraordinary dynamics.

Furthermore, the jury noted that the Panasonic DMP-UB900 offers “peerless upscaling of 1080p discs, super-fast loading and a well-equipped DNA client [which] make this the Swiss knife of Blu-ray players, handling every job that’s thrown at it in a masterly manner. Premium sound quality is assured by its high grade audio parts and THX certification for 4K picture and sound sources.”

The jury was particularly impressed with the player’s Ultra HD capability: ”Combine this player with a HDR 4K display and you’ll be grinning from ear to ear.”

European Home Theatre TV 2016-2017: Panasonic TX-65DX900E

Awarding the Panasonic TX-65DX900E the ‘European Home Theatre TV 2016-2017’ award, the EISA jury said that the TV showcased Ultra HD features with real skill: “With HDR sources, the local dimming backlight guarantees exceptional brightness and deep blacks, the panel is capable of a wide colour range, and the 65 inch screen offers an immersive visual experience – vivid, sometimes dazzling, sometimes dark, always close to reality.”

“And, importantly, this LCD giant is an astonishing performer with Full HD and even standard-definition content, offering an upscaled picture quality that’s unspoiled by artefacts.” The EISA jury concludes that “This TV is an ideal centrepiece for a premium movie room, complemented by impactful audio.”

European Travel Compact Camera 2016-2017: Panasonic LUMIX DMC‐TZ100

The latest in Panasonic’s successful LUMIX traveller zoom (TZ) series of compact cameras, the LUMIX DMC-TZ100, boasts performance typically associated with interchangeable lens models. The EISA jury recognises that it is “a solidly made, compact travel camera that gives class-leading image quality thanks to its 20.1-million-pixel 1-inch sensor and 25-250mm equivalent f/2.8-5.9 Leica zoom lens.”

“Enthusiast photographers will appreciate its 3-inch touchscreen LCD and 1.166-million-dot electronic viewfinder, Raw recording, 1-fps continuous shooting, built-in Wi-Fi and 1/16,000s electronic shutter.”

The EISA jury continues: “The camera also features 4K video recording along with Panasonic’s unique 4K photo mode, which helps capture the most important moments in high quality 8-million-pixel pictures. The icing on the cake is the “Post Focus” function that allows the photographer to choose the focus point in-camera after shooting.”

European Photo Innovation 2016-2017: Panasonic DUAL I.S. System

Finally, Panasonic’s DUAL I.S. System has been celebrated as “the most advanced technology yet to help photographers get sharp pictures when shooting hand-held across a wide range of situations” by the EISA jury.

Unlike previous image stabilisation systems, which have relied either on-lens optical technology, or moving the sensor within the camera, to combat image blurring from camera shake, Panasonic’s Dual I.S. found in the LUMIX GX8 and GX80 cameras uses both simultaneously to give “the best possible effect, for both stills photography and video shooting.”

The EISA jury acknowledged that the system works with a wide range of optically stabilised lenses, from wide angle to telephoto, “giving particular benefits for hand-held photography in low-light conditions.”
