Panasonic was officially honored with Vietnam National Environment Award for the 3rd time thanks to its tremendous efforts and contributions for environment in Vietnam

Hanoi, 31 Jul 2022 – Panasonic Vietnam was honored with the National Environment Award 2021 by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, marking a very special milestone in its first year of the next 50 year journey in Vietnam with a strong commitment to realize wellness and sustainable development for Vietnam and Vietnamese people.

Thanks to its continuous efforts and long-term contributions in environment that Panasonic has been honored to receive for 3 times with the Environment Award. Mr. Marukawa Yoichi, General Director of Panasonic Vietnam shared: “I am very happy and proud of receiving this prestigious award from Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment today. Over 50 years officially in Vietnam, environment protection and sustainable development is always put at the core of our activities, including manufacturing, business and corporate citizenship. Therefore, we have been continuously striving our best to bring a Healthy, Safety, and Convenience life to Vietnamese people to enrich their life, while addressing social issues especially Environment matter with our strengths of Technology and manufacturing with our passion. “

The award is the recognition for the contribution of Panasonic to environmental protection in Vietnam

Putting top focus on environment protection towards sustainability, Panasonic has been developing exclusive technologies and initiatives to improve energy efficiency, eco-friendly products and reduce CO2 emission from manufacturing and all related activities. Various green factory initiatives enable it to cut down more than 4 million KW of electricity a year, equivalent to 1,730 tons of CO2, whereas its energy-saving and environment-friendly washing machine products has been awarded Most Energy Efficient Products by Ministry of Industry and Trade for consecutive two years (2020-2021).

Globally, Panasonic group has declared its commitment to make an impact on CO2 reduction and accelerate towards carbon neutrality together with society, which is in-line with Vietnamese Government direction of achieving net zero CO2 by 2050.

Not only in business, in various CSR activities, Panasonic has focused on environment and education as 2 key pillars for sustainable development. Since 2013 until now, Panasonic has cooperated with Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, to successfully plant trees in 10 provinces nationwide, donating more than 250,000 trees, with the purpose to reduce CO2 emission, protect environment and generate economic values for local residents. In another program, 50,000 used batteries have been collected and exchanged for free Panasonic eco-batteries nationwide, and 20,000 non-toxic Panasonic eco batteries are gifted to local residents to promote environment protection. The Japanese brand also conducted environmental classes for 19,583 local students to help raise people’s environmental awareness on reducing waste and promote sustainable living.  

Vietnam Environment award is the highest award honored by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to organizations, individuals and communities with outstanding achievements in environmental protection. In the ceremony, there were 33 organizations, enterprises and individuals awarded. Panasonic was among the only 3 awarded enterprises and is the only FDI to receive this award for this year.
