Panasonic honored in Top 50 Sustainable Enterprises for third consecutive years

Panasonic Vietnam was recognized in Top 50 Corporate Sustainability Awards (Top 50 CSA) for the third consecutive years by Nhip cau Dau tu magazine. The honorable recognition reaffirms the tremendous and consistent efforts of Japanese enterprise in contributing towards the vision of wellness and sustainable development for Vietnam.

Top 50 CSA 2024 divided into 16 award categories to highlight the business's contribution for the community to recognize. With the honoring in category of Outstanding CSR Activity, Panasonic Vietnam is amongst enterprises recognized its efforts in creating a diverse, fair and inclusive workplace, meanwhile being active bringing initiatives for protecting environment and solving local issue.

Mr. Marukawa Yoichi, General Director of Panasonic Vietnam shared: “Panasonic has always put the mission of contributing to society in all our business activities. Globally, Panasonic has declared its commitment has declared its commitment to reduce over 300mil Tons of CO2 in whole value chain for our global business. In Vietnam, we have steadfastly committed to further contribute on the country's sustainable development and Wellness of people for the next 50 years. In that regard, we make every effort to bring a Healthy, Safety, and Convenience life to consumers, while tackling societal challenges, particularly those related to the environment, by utilizing our manufacturing and technological advantages. To generate such a significant impact, we do believe that many stakeholders must actively participate. For this reason, we dedicate ourselves to implementing various CSR initiatives to inspire community to create positive impact together. We also believe that human resources development will contribute both to sustainable growth of company and society, so we have incorporated D.E.I (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) as the strategy to fully strengthen our core competence of human resources”.

Panasonic has undertaken CSR efforts that focus on the environment and education, two fundamental pillars of sustainable development.

Amongst the most prominent initiatives, the Japanese firm soon to reach the milestone of 1 million trees planted and donated across Vietnam by the end of fiscal year 2024. This accomplishment is the result of years of consistent efforts of planting tree through the special program “Live Wellness, Contribute Green” with partners and customers contribution, and the annual activity with employee participation as “Panasonic for a green Vietnam”. In addition to planting new trees, company’s members also joined together to support local community such environmental class for children; organic waste treatment workshop for household and used-battery collecting.

Panasonic Vietnam received recognition for its years-long dedication to carrying out CSR initiatives in Vietnam.

Towards young generation, the campaign “Live Green and Wellness with Gen G” initiated by Panasonic has inspired millions of youngsters to practice green, healthy lifestyle, meanwhile empowering and sponsoring for environmental initiatives proposed by youth.

In the field of Education, "Panasonic for Sustainable Schools" launched in April 2022, building on the achievements of Panasonic Risupia Vietnam, which ran an open-for-free Mathematics and Science Museum that welcomed nearly 900,000 students, teachers, and parents between 2010 and 2021. During more than two years, the program has reached over 60,000 students and nearly 120 schools and educational communities, organizations, giving students chance to learn and practice STEM through lectures and toolkits, while also raising awareness of environmental protection and global issues related to sustainable development.
Furthermore, significant effort has been spent to facilitate the learning opportunity for future generations of Vietnam. Panasonic Scholarship Asia has sponsored more than 200 students nationwide with total values of VND 55 billion over the last 20 years. The company also donated nearly 3,000 solar lanterns to off-grid areas that helping local children to have better conditions for studying at nighttime.
In the meantime, Kids Witness News (KWN), a completely free program that focuses on filmmaking, is one of the most eagerly anticipated yearly events for schoolchildren, having been running in Vietnam for 17 years.

Top 50 Sustainable Development Enterprises Award 2024 was organized for the third time by Nhip Cau Dau Tu Magazine with the goal of raising awareness of private business sector and community about the importance of sustainable development, under the ESG guidelines. This year, 19 FDI and 31 Vietnamese companies have been recognized.

The evaluation and voting process is carried out by an Appraisal Council consisting of reputable and highly specialized experts and organizations such as HSBC Bank, Research Institute for Circular Economy Development, Deloitte Vietnam, PwC Vietnam and other business experts… to ensure objectivity and science in the assessment.
