DC-GH5S Firmware Update

1.RAW video data can be output over HDMI to save Blackmagic RAW on the Blackmagic Video Assist 12G HDR
- V-Log L or Rec.709 is selectable on Live View monitor during RAW output.

- Shooting assist functions including V-Log L View Assist, WFM (Wave Form Monitor), Vector Scope and Zebra Pattern can be used during RAW output.
*Selectable recording mode depends on the firmware version of Blackmagic Video Assist 12G HDR.
*Please refer to the Blackmagic Design website for the information on the corresponding firmware version of Blackmagic Video Assist 12G HDR.
*DaVinci Resolve or DaVinci Resolve Studio is required to play back and edit Blackmagic RAW data. DaVinci Resolve Studio is required to deliver projects using Blackmagic RAW data in resolutions over 3840x2160.
*All functions may not be available depending on the situation.

2. Added functions
- [Focus Ring Control] function has been added.
Compatible lenses: H-XA025, H-ES200, H-E08018, H-X1025, H-HSA12035, H-ES12060, H-FS12060, H-X2550, H-HSA35100, H-FSA45200, H-ES50200, H-FSA100300 and H-RS100400

1.Improved AF performance
- It can detect the eyes / face at a 2x faster recognition cycle speed and human / animal at a 5x faster recognition cycle speed. These subjects can be detected even they appear in approximately half the size. *Comparison between before and after updating the firmware.
- Tracking and recognition performance of AF have been improved with an addition of head recognition.
- Human/Animal recognition can be set ON or OFF when the AF mode is set to [1-Area].

2. RAW video data output over HDMI function
- The Apple ProRes RAW can be recorded on Atomos NINJA V.
- [4K] / [Anamorphic (4:3) 3.7K] 12-bit RAW video data can be output over HDMI.

• A LUT (Lookup table) exclusively designed for RAW video recorded on NINJA V is available on the following customer support website to make the same color grading as V-Log/V-Gamut. It is easy to match colors between the footages recorded with Panasonic Varicam, EVA1 cameras to combine them. https://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/dsc/download/lut/s1h_raw_lut/index.html

*Atomos Ninja V Ver.10.66 will be required to support the RAW video data output function of the LUMIX GH5S.
*Software that supports Apple ProRes RAW is required to edit RAW video recorded with Ninja V.
*All functions may not be available depending on the situation.

3. Added video functions
- [Red REC Frame Indicator] function has been added.
- It is possible to play back vertical videos vertically.
- Users can choose to add or not to add camera orientation information in [Vertical Position Info (Video)] menu to prevent unintended image rotation in playback.
- [Video Guide Line] function has been upgraded with more options.

4. Other added functions
- [Power Save Mode] can be selectable while the camera is powered with an AC adaptor(DMW-AC10, sold separately).　

1. Improved compatibility with the Panasonic Tripod grip DMW-SHGR1
･ Tripod grip DMW-SHGR1 can be used.

1.Expanded compatibility with Profoto wireless transmitters

• Profoto wireless transmitters "Air Remote TTL-O/P" and "Profoto Connect-O/P“ can be used.
* All functions may not be available depending on the situation.

2.Improved AF performance

• [Animal Detect.] has been added to AF mode. Utilizing Advanced AI Technology, animals, including canidae, felidae and birds, can be detected in addition to humans. The focus frame is automatically set on the target subject by analyzing the size and position of the target subject in the viewing image. The camera keeps tracking these subjects even when they turn their back to the camera.
• [AF-ON: Near Shift] and [AF-ON: Far Shift] functions have been added. [AF-ON: Near Shift] preferably focuses on a subject nearby while [AF-ON: Far Shift] preferably focuses on a subject far away.

• Focus Peaking function is available in any AF mode.
• It is possible to set continuous AF on the live view screen in Creative Video mode or in other video recording mode when the video recording area is displayed.

3.Other added functions

• [AWBw] has been added to WB mode.
• [Highlight Weighted] has been added to metering mode.
• [Exposure Offset Adjust.] has been added to Custom menu, which enables adjustment of the standard exposure value for all metering modes.
• [0.5SEC] has been added for an option of [Duration Time (photo)] in [Auto Review].

4.Other improvements

• AE can be locked with the [AF/AE LOCK] button when ISO Auto is set in M mode.
• [MODE1] has been added to the Live View Boost function, which increases the frame rate for smooth image display to enable easier manual focusing.

5.Improved operational stability

• There were cases where Backup Recording using the Double Card Slot Function stopped during writing. This bug has been fixed.
• AF operation following the pressing of [AF-ON] in MF mode was unstable when the LVF Frame Rate was at 120 fps and the camera was under dim lighting. This bug has been fixed.
• There were cases where the images shot vertically did not rotate on playback. This bug has been fixed.

1. Improved compatibility with the Panasonic LEICA DG VARIO-SUMMILUX 10-25mm / F1.7 ASPH. (H-X1025) digital interchangeable lens.

• Smooth aperture control is available during video recording.
• [Aperture Ring Increment] has been added with which users can choose the control method of the aperture ring from [SMOOTH] or [1/3EV] in photo shooting.

2. Improved compatibility with the Panasonic Remote Shutter DMW-RS2.

• The video REC switch on the Remote Shutter can be disabled in the camera’s custom menu.

1. Improvement of AF performance
• AF performance of photo shooting under low-light, low-contrast environment has been improved.
• AF speed at 180d (180°) has been improved when displaying the shutter speed in degrees in [SS/Gain Operation]>[ANGLE/ISO].

2. Improvement of sound recording performance
• Sound quality has been improved by optimizing the noise reduction performance of internal noise cancelling microphone.

4. Other improvements
• [Focus Ring Lock], [E-Stabilization(Video)], [Sound Rec Level Disp.] and [L.Monochrome D] can be assigned to the Fn button that works in recording mode.
• Vector Scope can be displayed on the screen while adjusting white balance.
• It is possible to choose images from group display such as burst shots in [RAW Processing] mode.
• There were cases where the Image Stabilizer icon was not displayed when switching the settings of Image Stabilizer using the Fn button on the H-ES200 interchangeable lens. This bug has been fixed.
• There were cases where folder name was garbled when connecting wirelessly with Windows10-based PC. This bug has been fixed.
