17 June 2014, Singapore – At Broadcast Asia 2014, Panasonic Systems Asia Pacific (Panasonic) brought together its innovative technology and wide range of broadcast solutions to create a unique 4K experience for its customers and partners. This year, Panasonic showcased its wireless broadcasting and studio solutions. Its entourage of new products included the Varicam HS with variable frame rates to produce extraordinary high-definition imagery; lightweight, wireless and compact handheld camcorder; ultimate photo/video hybrid Digital Single Lens Mirrorless camera; and high brightness portable LCD and laser projectors with angle free installation capabilities.
Panasonic unveiled the 4K camera/recorder, VariCam® 35 (AU-V35C1), a first in Asia, that incorporates a newly-developed super 35mm MOS image sensor and AVC-ULTRA family of video codecs. The new camera’s superb image handling in multiple formats including 4K, UHD, 2K and HD makes it an unparalleled tool for high-end filmmaking, commercials, episodic production as well as shooting live events in 4K. Among the camera/recorder’s top-level production features are the capability to shoot real-time, with high frame rates and variable speed 4K recording of up to 120fps, proving the capability for master level 2K/FHD recording; and advanced workflows with parallel simultaneous 4K/ UHD, reference 2K/HD and proxy recordings for in-camera on-set color grading and monitoring/editing ease.
(*The VariCam 35 will be launch in Q4 2014. Price to be announced.)
Showcased for the first time in Asia as well, Varicam HS features an innovative modular design, the VariCam HS 2/3" camera head docks with the AVC-ULTRA recording module to provide the full functionality and ergonomics of a conventional production camera/recorder. This system flexibility can be expanded with an umbilical cable between the 2/3" camera module Unit (AU-V23HS1) and the recording module Unit (AU-VREC1), providing "box" camera functionality for jibs, cranes and other "remote" camera needs. This common recorder module is also interchangeable with Panasonic’s new s35mm 4K camera module unit, enabling professionals to switch between 2/3" and s35mm camera heads to best suit their creative needs.
The VariCam HS features a range of high-quality recording formats including AVC-Intra Class100 with Varible Frame Rate (up to 240p), AVC-Intra Class200 and AVC-Intra Class4:4:4. Both AVC-Intra Class200 and AVC-Intra Class4:4:4 deliver spectacular performance in applications where image quality is of utmost consideration. The VariCam HS also features Panasonic’s Emmy® Award-winning Chromatic Aberration Compensation (CAC) technology to minimize lateral chromatic aberrations and dramatically improve the Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) of the optical system.

Panasonic’s first P2 HD handheld camcorder with AVC-ULTRA recording combines the high quality and incredible efficiency of low bit rate recording and the flexibility of 3G/4G/LTE wireless mobility. It features newly-developed high-sensitivity, low-noise 1/3" 3-MOS imagers to produce stunning pictures, even in low light conditions.
This is the ultimate news acquisition tool. The PX270 will be equally suitable for a wide range of sports, corporate, educational event applications. Networking functions allow for proxy video to be automatically uploaded to the cloud and for compatibility with a planned cloud workflow. The PX270 features a Wireless LAN function over a mobile 3G/4G/LTE network. Accessing these wireless features, PX270 operators can easily uplink low-bit rate proxy data and full-quality broadcast content. The handheld camera’s network function makes the production workflow more efficient and accelerates the broadcasting workflow from shooting to on-air.
