Longevity Eight Treasure Congee
Sweet or savoury, thick or thin, beat those hunger pangs with a nutritious bowl of Longevity Eight Treasure Congee. Easy to chew and digest, it’s the perfect dish for those with a sensitive digestion.

- 0.25 cupShort grain rice
- 0.25 cupBlack glutinous rice
- 0.25 cupBarley
- 0.25 cupMillet
- 2 tbspGreen bean
- 2 tbspLentil (soak overnight)
- 2 tbspRed bean (soak overnight)
- 2 tbspPeanuts (soak overnight)
For savoury
- 1.5 LChicken stock
For sweet dessert
- 1.5 LWater
- 150 gRock sugar
Method
1) Rinse all the grains and beans with water.
2) Pour in green beans, lentil, red bean and peanuts into the slow cooker pot.
3) For savory, add in chicken stock. For sweet dessert, add in rock sugar.
4) Cook for 1 hour under “High” setting.
5) Pour in short grain rice, black glutinous rice, barley and millet into the slow cooker pot.
6) Cook for 1 hour under “High” setting.
7) For savory, add in salt to taste. For sweet dessert, add in sugar to taste.
