Panasonic Scholarship marks its two decades accompanying with Vietnameses talented students, in honor to historical moments of Vietnam-Japan relations
Hanoi, October 6, 2023 – Today, 20 excellent students across the country have been granted the Panasonic Scholarship at the awarding ceremony that marking two decades of implementation in Vietnam. The long-term program supporting future generations reaffirms the commiment of the Japanese giant in contributing to the sustainable growth of Vietnam, as well as contribute its effort to honor the historical of 50 years diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.
This year, the program has received nearly 650 applications from students of 100 universities from the North to the South – the highest record in number of applications. With 20 years implemented consecutively, Panasonic Scholarship Asia has become one of the longest-history schorlarship in Vietnam sponsored by a corporate, which have supported more than 200 students in across the country, the accumualted value reached up to nearly VND 55 billion.

Mr. Marukawa Yoichi, General Director of Panasonic Vietnam shared: “Over more than 100-year history and over 50 years history in Vietnam, Panasonic has set human resources development as the key competence for both company growth and sustainable development of society. In Vietnam, Panasonic has committed to contribute the wellness of Vietnamese people’s life and sustainable development of the society, in which Human resources development is one of the key pillars, especially growing the future generations. That’s why we organized the Scholarship program for 20 years consecutively, with many evolutions along the way, to provide more studying opportunities to Vietnamese students as well as helping them to reach further potentials. This is also our effort partly contributing to the strategic and long-term diplomatic relations between Japan – Vietnam in 50 years and in the future.”

The scholarship program 2023 offer talents students with financial support of VND 30 million for one school year. More specifically, for the first time appearing within the framework of the program, nominated students participated in special sessions on important skills such as writing and editing CVs, and job interviewing practice, which are the essential skills for them to be ready for bright future career opportunities. Besides that, various training that carried out Panasonic’s culture and identity helped to improve their soft skills such as communications, time management, critical thinking…
Students are trained to develop soft skills to be ready for future opportunities
Panasonic Scholarship Asia was official established in Vietnam since 2004 as an activity in human development program, which is one of key focuses in the corporate citizenship activities of Panasonic Group. Since then, the program has been constantly evolved to enhance the support to future career development for the young talented generation.
Especially, during three years of COVID-19 pandemic, and under economic recession, the studying of Vietnamese students might be put in challenging situations, along with families living. Panasonic Scholarship Asia program has brought up more opportunities to undergraduate students in Vietnam as an encouragement for their new journey of cultivating knowledge and skills of talented students, supporting steadfastly over challenges to achieve success in the future. Also, the number of annual scholarships awarded by Panasonic has increased gradually. In the period of 2014 – 2017, only 08 students could get the scholarship every year; increased to 10 students in 2018; and 15 students for the period 2019 -2021. From 2022 until now, 20 students have been awarded with the scholarship per year.
Among nominated students this year, Nguyen Ngoc Anh, final year student at Foreign Trade University shared: “From my experiences, Panasonic scholarship is the beginning stage of the journey making my dream come true, which is to be an entrepreneur, solving social issues, and creating positive impacts on the community. The program has not only offered us the financial aid package and various of soft-skills enhancement, but more importantly share with us the inspiration of contributing to the community, all in the pursuit of a more sustainable, and wellness for Vietnam”.
Towards the next 50 years, Panasonic is committed to continuously being a part of Vietnam with desire contributing to sustainable development society and wellness life of the people. On top of that, human resources put a strong focus on human resources development as the key driver that leads the society & company overcoming challenges to realizing its vision. Setting its constant commitment of contributing to the wellness and sustainable development of Vietnam through its business and corporate social responsibility activities, Panasonic prioritize its effort in Education and environment fields with some highlighted programs including:
- Panasonic for Sustainable School: the brand-new CSR initiative inherit and expand the experiences and successful of Panasonic Risupia Vietnam (2010 – 2021), organized STEM, STEAM and Environment workshop for 25,000 students through Online and Offline activities.
- Kid Witness News (KWN): free filmmaking competition for 10 – 18 year old students with over 3,000 participants since 2006.
- Successfully planted and donated of more than 610,000 trees in 20 provinces, cities of Vietnam through two key programs including EcoRelay - Panasonic for a green Vietnam, the annual tree planting program since 2014 with the active participations of Panasonic Vietnam Group employees; and Live Wellness Contribute Green, the special tree planting program with the contribution from partners and customers since 2022.
