Product information

Recharge up to 2100 times*

Every time you reuse eneloop, you're saving on the cost of replacement dry batteries and reducing waste. Your investment pays for itself over the life of the product, and you'll feel great about doing your part for the earth.

* Testing method established by IEC 61951-2 2011 (7.5.1.3). 600 times based on IEC 61951-2 2017 (7.5.1.4). Varies according to conditions of use.

Retains 70%* after 10 years

We've improved the metal-hydride alloy lattice inside your eneloop battery so that it retains 70%* capacity even after 10 years in storage. The design also resists voltage drop during discharge and minimizes loss of capacity. Once charged, you can trust eneloop to work just like a dry battery, and its long storage life is great in emergencies.

* Capacity based on testing method established by IEC 61951-2 (7.3.2) when stored at 20 °C (based on Panasonic's estimation) and compared with minimum capacity. Varies according to conditions of use.

Better discharge performance

A battery is like a tube of toothpaste. You can squeeze it in the middle or roll it up carefully from the bottom. Dry batteries squeeze out a large flow of voltage that drops away quickly. By contrast, the voltage from eneloop flows out steadily for longer, right up until the battery is depleted. This means your devices work reliably, and you use more of the energy in the battery. Devices powered with dry batteries, on the other hand, might stop working before the batteries are completely flat because they can't get enough voltage.

Note: The graph opposite shows an AA-size eneloop tested against a competitive AA-size alkaline battery under continuous discharge at 500 mA, 25 °C. Values are approximate.

Better discharge performance

A deeper reserve of power

A digital camera equipped with eneloop can take 4.4 times* as many shots before running out as a digital camera equipped with standard alkaline batteries. Enjoy longer battery life and better device reliability between charges with eneloop.

* Based on Panasonic's internal testing of AA size eneloop and conventional alkaline batteries. Results may vary depending on the equipment used and other conditions.

A deeper reserve of power

Lasting power in a wide temperature range

Your eneloop batteries maintain excellent discharge performance even when used in heat and cold. The batteries are rated for use in temperatures between -20 °C and 50 °C, which is great for outdoor activities such as skiing, hiking, photography, and camping.

Lasting power in a wide temperature range

Works better in cold weather

All batteries rely on a chemical reaction to discharge power, and freezing conditions can slow or even stop these reactions. Your eneloop battery is more resistant to the effects of cold and can work in temperatures as low as -20 °C. Use your devices with confidence wherever your day takes you.

Note: Graph opposite is based on Panasonic's own testing of AA-size eneloop and a comparable alkaline battery under continuous discharge at 500 mA, 0 °C. Results may vary depending on the equipment used and other conditions.

Note: Operation time will be shorter than operation at room temperature and varies according to the equipment used.

Pre-charged with solar energy and ready to use

Before eneloop batteries are shipped, they're charged with solar energy at the factory as part of our participation in the Green Certificate system and the Panasonic Environment Vision 2050 initiative, where our company aims to generate more energy than we use by 2050. Of course, pre-charging means you can use eneloop immediately after purchase.

Made in Japan

eneloop is designed, manufactured, and tested in Japan to rigorous quality control standards and is available in about 70 countries* around the world. Use with the confidence that comes from products made to the highest standards of Japanese craftsmanship.

* For the eneloop series as of December 2021.

Works in a variety of devices

While eneloop has a slightly lower voltage than equivalent dry batteries, it works better in almost any device where standard batteries are used. From low-drain applications in computer mouses to high-drain equipment such as camera flashes, toys, and RC cars, its high capacity and stable discharge voltage will power your gear more reliably and for longer than most single-use alternatives.

Note: eneloop cannot be used in devices with airtight battery compartments, such as water-proof flashlights.

Recharge anytime you want

Unique battery and charger technology suppresses the memory effect in eneloop batteries, which means you can top them up anytime without reducing their capacity. To avoid the memory effect with other rechargeable batteries, you may have to run them flat before you can recharge, which isn't always practical. With eneloop, you can recharge whenever you want without worrying about reduced battery life.

Note: Memory effect is a phenomenon that can occur in some types of rechargeable battery. The effect occurs when the battery is repeatedly recharged before it has been fully discharged, causing it to "remember" the shorter capacity and eventually leading to a decrease in overall battery life.

Recharge anytime you want

Save real money

Yes, your eneloop batteries and charger cost more than a pack of dry batteries. But you save a lot more in the long run. For example, powering a single game controller with eneloop is almost US$20 a year cheaper than using dry batteries. It's easy to see how the savings add up if you switched all of your battery-powered devices to eneloop, since you can reuse each battery up to 2100 times*.

Note: Values are estimates. Based on a game controller with 4 x AA batteries when used for two hours per day for one year. The total cost of dry batteries is US$48.70 when the device is operated for 30 hours (24.33 purchases required/year). The total cost of eneloop is US$30.10 when the device is operated for 25 hours, with 29.2 charges required. Includes the average cost of a charger and electricity.

Note: The above specifications are based on the theoretical capacity of the battery and the consumption power rate of the equipment. Results may vary greatly depending on the conditions of use, models used, ambient temperature, and equipment condition. Runtime of eneloop is measured with battery fully charged. Performance time may be shorter if the battery has been left unused for a period of time after being fully charged. All data is approximate. Runtime specifications may be different when eneloop is used with appliances not included in the table.

Caution

  • Do not disassemble.
  • Do not dispose of in fire, put in backwards, mix different battery types, use with non-rechargeable batteries, or short circuit.
  • Do not connect the (+) and (-) ends with metal objects.
  • Do not use in water-proof flashlights or in any device with an airtight battery compartment. Doing so may result in explosions or leaks that may cause personal injury.
  • Keep batteries out of reach of children. If swallowed, contact your doctor or local poison control center.
