This means you can charge a single battery (you don't need to insert batteries in pairs or use specific slots to charge) or combinations of different battery sizes and capacities in any slots you choose. If there is a problem with one of the batteries, the safety system only shuts off power to the affected battery, allowing the others to continue charging. It's also useful when recharging batteries at different stages of depletion: power is shut off to individual slots as each battery becomes full. If you purchased a charger set including eneloop AA or AAA batteries and find that the batteries are not charging, it is likely because of an insulating tray or sheet that comes with the charger. The insulation prevents the batteries from discharging before they reach you. Please remove the sheet from the charger and dispose of it in accordance with your municipality's regulations governing waste disposal. Insert the batteries as described in the user manual, and plug the charger into an AC outlet.
