Cleanse from the Inside for Safe, Clean Air
An air conditioner gives us a comfortable and cooling environment. However, you probably do not clean it as often as you do for other household surfaces. An air conditioner circulates and filters air, removing dust, pollutants, and mould. Thus, if left uncleaned, it is prone to accumulation of dust, growth of mould and development of other contaminants, which can affect the air quality it delivers, and its cooling performance.
Panasonic leverages its unique proprietary nanoe™ X technology together with Inside Cleaning function to cleanse the inside of an indoor unit, minimising microbial growth to deliver clean air during cooling or heating operation.
Unmaintained Air Conditioners Can Cause Unpleasant
Odour and Affect Its Performance
Air conditioners, when left uncleaned, can cause more problems than you can imagine. Poor routine maintenance can lead to dust buildup and the growth of mould.
How Does Mould Grow Inside an Air Conditioner?
As an air conditioner unit cools and heats, condensation occurs and is collected in small pools, creating a damp environment that promotes mould growth. Mould thrives in a damp and warm environment, appearing as a cloud of tiny black dots. These black dots reproduce rapidly by making tiny spores that are easily dispersed through airflow.
How Does Dust Accumulate Inside an Air Conditioner?
Like any household surface, dust can settle inside an air conditioner. When air circulates, dust and other debris in the air are drawn in and trapped on the filter. However, some fine particles are still able to pass through the filter, and onto the cross flow fan. When the cross flow fan rotates, the friction between the air and the blades generates static electricity that attracts dust particles. Overtime, dust will build up on the surfaces of filters and cross flow fan.
Effects of Dust Buildup and Mould on an Air Conditioner
Dust buildups on the fan blades can obstruct the cross flow fan from producing optimal air volume, thus reducing the unit's cooling performance. Dust buildups inside the air conditioner unit also present an ideal environment for mould and bacteria to thrive.
As mould grows, it produces gases that emit a musty smell. When the air conditioner is turned on, the unpleasant odour is dissipated through the air outlet into the living space. Mould spores can contaminate the air, and inhaling mould spores poses a potential health risk to you, your family and your pets.
Like other household appliances, an air conditioner needs to be cleaned regularly in order to operate efficiently and remain hygienic to use for you and the others. Fortunately, modern air conditioners today integrate built-in cleaning function to help lessen the burden of cleaning your air conditioner.
Panasonic’s Enhanced Inside Cleaning with nanoe™ X Technology
The inside of an indoor unit is susceptible to moisture accumulation which contributes to the development of contaminants. Panasonic’s air conditioner integrates Inside Cleaning with
nanoe™ X technology to cleanse the inside of the indoor unit. It is designed to deeply clean the area where moisture and dust residue may accumulate, effectively curbing microbial growth. As a result, it restores the air conditioner to its optimal condition, providing cleaner and healthier air.
How It Works
The enhanced Inside Cleaning works by combining the drying process with Panasonic air purification technology, nanoe™ X to effectively inhibit pollutants deep inside the air conditioner.
Here’s how Inside Cleaning works:
Step 1: Drying process of the evaporator, air outlet and filter.
Upon activation, Inside Cleaning starts with a 30 minutes drying process of the evaporator, air outlet and filter, with the flap fully open. nanoe™ X particles are released through the airflow from the air conditioner, inhibiting pollutants and deodorising odours in the room.
Step 2: nanoe™ X inhibition inside of the air conditioning unit.
After 30 minutes of the drying process, the flap moves upward. nanoe X Generator Mark 3 then releases nanoe™ X particles to effectively inhibit mould, bacteria, and viruses inside the air conditioner. This process takes approximately 2 hours.
Step 3: Completes process and is ready to use.
The air conditioner automatically turns off once the entire cleaning process is completed. The inside of the air conditioner is now dry and clean, ready for the next use.
What is nanoe™ X Technology and How It Inhibits Pollutants?
nanoe™ X generates hydroxyl radicals contained in water to purify the air, creating a safer indoor environment. Here’s how the process works:
nanoe X generator captures and cools moisture with atomised electrodes to produce condensation. Electrical discharge is then released to the water, generating and releasing hydroxyl radicals contained in water to the room.
Hydroxyl radicals are unstable molecules that readily react with elements like hydrogen. Hydroxyl radicals attach themselves to pollutants and strip away hydrogen atoms, denaturing the proteins of the pollutants.
The pollutants are inhibited and hydroxyl radicals become part of the water molecules.
Effectiveness of Inside Cleaning
Inside Cleaning with nanoe™ X is proven to effectively inhibit mould, bacteria, and viruses while the improved cross flow fan with anti-dust coating has proven to effectively prevent dust adherence.

Advantages & Benefits of Inside Cleaning
A clean air conditioner inside out will ultimately increase its overall performance, providing the optimal air quality level in your living spaces.
Safer Air for Your Loved Ones
Clean air is crucial for everyone, especially for individuals with asthma and allergies, as well as pet owners and smokers. Inside Cleaning actively cleanses the inside and outside of the air conditioner, inhibiting harmful pollutants and minimising contaminant growth, while deodorising odours.
Maintain Optimal Performance
Homes in the urban area, which have higher particulates, accumulate more dust indoors. The dust may be trapped inside the air conditioning unit thus affecting its performance. Anti-dust coating on cross flow fan effectively prevents dust adherence, keeping the inside unit clean for optimal performance.
