Challenge: To further improve air cleanliness
In addition to pouring every effort into treating pets, Kusunoki Animal Hospital also places importance on looking after the mental health of pet owners who are worried about the health of their pets. Pets are like family, and so the clinic encourages the owners to take part in their medical treatment where possible. At the adjoining Setagaya Animal Orthopaedic Centre, which specialises in orthopaedics and neurosurgery, the clinic has set up a space from which owners can watch their pets in surgery, creating an environment that allows them to get as close as possible to their pets when undergoing treatment. To create a welcoming environment for these visitors, the clinic has strived to create a comfortable air environment.
Unpleasant smells suggest that there may be some unhygienic areas nearby. As a unique measure among animal clinics, Kusunoki Animal Hospital has introduced medical-use air purification equipment to ensure the circulation of clean air throughout the clinic. It has also installed a positive pressure ventilation system in its surgery room as another infection prevention measure. Medical care must be provided in as clean an environment as possible, and so to date the clinic has implemented measures that are on par with those at medical facilities that treat people. To ensure the further elimination of odours, Kusunoki Animal Hospital has introduced ziaino® in the waiting room.
Solution: Reducing odours and fine fur with ziaino®
Since the introduction of ziaino® approximately one month ago, it has helped reducing odours and fine animal fur in the air, improving the cleanliness of the air inside the clinic. Kiyohisa Fujii, director of Kusunoki Animal Hospital, feels that this has helped to improve the level of service it provides to pet owners. Although the clinic has always sought to create an environment free of unpleasant smells, this has been based on its own standards, and there may have been some owners who have been much more sensitive to smells. With its excellent air treatment functions, installing ziaino® in its waiting room has shown visitors that the clinic is taking great care over its air environment and given them peace of mind.
Fine animal fur trapped to the HEPA filter
ziaino® is already well-known in Japan, and according to the animal hospital, some pet owners already have ziaino® products at home. Although homes and owners with pets will be used to their smells, there may be visitors for whom the smell is bothering. “If we can increase the number of homes who pay careful attention to reducing unpleasant smells for both themselves and for visitors, we can create an even more pet-friendly society,” says Fujii. From his standpoint as a vet, Fujii believes that ziaino® can also be an effective measure for homes with pets.
