LUMIX Digital Single Lens Mirrorless Camera DMC-GX85K
Leading-edge technology, starting with 4K and the 5-Axis Dual I.S., has been incorporated into this compact body to give you highly detailed, impressive images. The LUMIX GX85 brings an exciting photographic experience to everyday life.
The LUMIX GX85’s 16-megapixel Digital Live MOS sensor lets you capture more detail and
produce sharper images, whatever you are shooting, without the need for Low Pass filter.
Venus Engine –
Impressive colour reproduction
Shoot high-quality, true-to-life images with excellent resolution, high contrast, and
impressive colour reproduction. Removing the Low Pass Filter, the limiting resolution is
improved by approximately 10%* while detecting high-frequency components to suppress
the generation of moire by the Venus Engine, which is designed for the LUMIX GX85.
Combining the Digital Live MOS Sensor and Venus Engine renders clear images with
minimum noise even in low-light situations and a maximum sensitivity of ISO25600.
* A Panasonic comparison with the LUMIX GX7.
New Photo Style option – L. Monochrome
L. Monochrome is a new option added to the Photo Style for more creative photography.
It produces impressive monochrome pictures with deep blacks and rich gradation like that
of a B/W film.
Focus Bracket / Aperture Bracket
Focus Bracket and Aperture Bracket are newly added to the conventional Exposure
Bracket and WB Bracket. Focus Bracket shoots a maximum of 999 images with different
focus points, and Aperture Bracket lets you teke multiple shots with different depths of
field. Select the mode to match the situation or conditions, then choose the best photo
after shooting.
Made to move
Ideal for capturing life on the go, the LUMIX GX85
integrates a 5-axis Dual I.S. (Image Stabiliser), combining
body and lens stabilisation to gain more powerful
handshake correction. The 5-axis Dual I.S. works in both
photo and motion picture recording, including 4K video
from wide to telephoto. It is also beneficial even in low light
situations, and makes it possible to use a 4-step slower
shutter speed*.
* Based on the CIPA standard [Yaw/Pitch direction: focusing distance
f=32mm (35mm camera equivalent f=64mm), when H-FS12032 is
used.]
Shock reduction shutter unit
The LUMIX GX85 adopts an electromagnetic drive in the shutter unit that dramatically
reduces the shock caused by the movement of the shutter diaphragm. It also minimizes the
shutter sound and unit size.
This shock reduction lets you release the mechanical shutter even in situations where there
was no choice but to use the electronic shutter.
What you see is
what you shoot
The LUMIX GX85 features a Live View Finder, perfect for
framing your shot and capturing every detail you're looking
for. The LVF boasts 2764k-dot equivalent high resolution
and approximately 100% colour reproduction for high
visibility under any circumstances.
Tiltable monitor is
as flexible as you are
The large 3.0-inch, approximately 1040k-dot static-type touch monitor tilts upward by 80
degrees and downward by 45 degrees. It enables dynamic framing for artistic low-angle
shots, like when shooting at nearly ground level, and is highly practical for high-angle shots,
like when you need to shoot over the heads of people at a parade or a party.
High speed auto-focusing with DFD technology
Panasonic's Depth From Defocus (DFD) Auto Focus (AF) technology* instantly calculates
the distance between the items inside the frame and drives the focus of the lens in one
fast, continuous movement. This system results in faster AF speeds up to 0.07 seconds**
and a burst shooting speed with AFC of 6 fps. It also increases the stability of continuous
focusing when shooting video.
* Contrast AF with DFD technology works only with Panasonic Micro Four Thirds lenses.
** In AFS, at wide-end with H-FS14140 (CIPA).
Focusing in low light conditions — Star Light AF
Low Light Auto Focus makes it possible to set focus on the subject more precisely in such
as moonlight even without AF assist lamp. Furthermore, the LUMIX GX85 integrates the
Starlight AF to let you shoot a star in the night sky with auto focus by accurate calculation
of the contrast value in a smaller AF zone.
8 fps burst shooting
High-speed burst shooting is possible at 8 fps in full resolution. Together with a quick
start-up and a short release time lag, the LUMIX GX85 will make sure you catch those
fleeting shooting opportunities.
Silent shooting
There are many situations when you want your camera to be absolutely silent such as
street photography or at a classical concert. When using the electronic shutter of LUMIX
G cameras, the mirrorless system is considered noiseless thanks to the fast and silent
AF-System in the lenses and the lack of shutter noise. Silent shooting with LUMIX G
opens areas of photography that are out of reach for other photographers.
Never miss
the perfect moment
Our 4K PHOTO feature lets you capture the perfect
moment by selecting a frame from a video sequence (shot
at 30fps) in camera, and saving it as an individual high-res
image. Simply shoot, select and save, to make those
fleeting moments unmissable in every sense.
Your world has never
looked better
With the stunning power of 4K Video, LUMIX GX85 lets
you record every inspiration in up to 4x the resolution of
Full HD. More detail, in more clarity, means there’s more
to see in every moment.
Light Composition
Light Composition function synthesises the images by choosing and saving a brighter
pixel. This makes it possible to produce more luxurious, dramatic image of situations such
as fireworks or night scenery in camera with ease.
4K Live Cropping
4K Live Cropping enables unique video expressions that were previously difficult to
record. Only the recording frame moves while the camera maintains a fixed position. This
allows stable panning, and lets you zoom in on a subject that is not in the image's center
position.
Shoot now, focus later
Imagine being able to decide exactly what you want in
focus, even after you have taken the photo. Post Focus
gives you the power to do just that. Simply capture the
scene, review the image and touch the part of the photo
you'd like to be pin sharp. It's simple, stunning and all
inside the LUMIX GX85.
Adjust the focus area after shooting
The Focus Stacking function enables you to adjust the focus area after shooting by combining multiple images. You can get an image with exactly the kind of defocus you want or
pan-focus the image by simply selecting the focus area after shooting. This is beneficial when shooting macro shots of insects, small accessories and so on.
