Clearing the air: how to clean and service your air conditioner
Your air conditioning units require regular maintenance to function optimally. Find out how you can easily clean your air conditioner here.
Cleaning your purifying filter
Remove dirt from your Panasonic air conditioner’s purifying filter using a vacuum cleaner. If your air conditioning unit comes with a deodorising filter, place it under direct sunlight for six hours before fitting back in place. Replace the filter every three years.
Clean the indoor air conditoning unit by gently wiping the surface with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use polishing fluid or water hotter than 40 degrees Celsius.
Keeping your air conditioner's filter dirt-free
While the purifying filter removes toxins from the air, the air filter screens out larger airborne particles such as dust, mites and pollen. Clean the air filter using a vacuum cleaner. After that, you can wash the air filter with water.
If the air filter is still visibly dirty after a good rinse, wash it with soap or a mild household detergent. Let it dry completely before reinstalling.
Clean the air filter every two weeks if your air conditioner is used daily in a dusty environment. Dirty air filters can reduce your air conditioner's cooling efficiency.
Ensuring optimal performance for your air conditoner
The front panel on your air conditioner protects the air filter. Remove it and gently wash with water and a sponge. If you are using a mild household detergent to clean it, be sure to rinse and dry thoroughly. Do not dry the front panel under direct sunlight.
To make sure your air conditioner functions optimally and to prolong service life, it is best to have your air conditioner serviced at least once every six months. A trained technician will be able to check the refrigerant levels of your air-conditioning system, test for leaks, check the thermostat for accuracy and more.

Do not short-cycle the air conditioner; avoid turning the unit off and back on right away. You should wait at least 10 minutes after shutting off your air conditioner to allow the pressure in the system to equalise again.
To maintain an unused air conditioner, dry the internal parts of the indoor unit by operating the unit for 2-3 hours using the fan mode (for Cooling models) or heating mode with the temperature set at 30˚C (for Heat Pump models). Then, turn off the power supply and unplug from power source. Remember to remove the remote control batteries.
