Dependable Autofocus System

Phase Hybrid AF

The most important thing with autofocus is to be dependable. In addition to contrast AF, the LUMIX GH7 offers the Phase Detection AF system, which dramatically improves subject tracking performance and metering technologies. The camera can capture the subject even in challenging scenes where multiple subjects are involved, delivering accuracy even in backlit or low-light environments.

Real-time Recognition

The LUMIX’s advanced detection AF pushes the envelope on sports, wildlife, and car/motorcycle photography. The LUMIX GH7 can now recognize a wider range of subjects and target parts, including human and animal eyes, the front of vehicles, the helmets of drivers and motorcyclists, the frontmost car of a train, or the nose of an airplane.
・Depending on settings, some subjects may not be recognized. ・The camera may sometimes recognize non-animal subjects as animals.

The LUMIX GH7 incorporates a completely new image sensor. The new 25.2-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor delivers a richer tonal expression and improved AF performance through Phase Detection AF, helping you produce high-quality content.

Richer Tonal Expression

Dynamic Range Boost function acquires two types of images with a single exposure and synthesizes them in real time to create composite images with rich tonal range even in scenes with significant luminance differences. With still images, it allows for richer expression of shadow tones in RAW data. With video, it enables 13+-stop V-Log/V-Gamut recording.* It achieves a wide dynamic range in all ISO sensitivity ranges.
*When shooting video over 60fps (including VFR), latitude will be 12+ stop. ・Dynamic Range Boost is not activated when shooting HFR/VFR video of 61fps or higher, or with SH burst shooting. Also not activated at shutter speeds slower than 1/15 during still image shooting, depending on the ISO. ・This function is applied automatically.

ProRes RAW HQ Internal Recording

5.7K 30p ProRes RAW HQ footage can be recorded on the camera body itself, giving you the freedom to capture the moment at the click of a button with minimal setup and no need for external devices. Improved gimbal compatibility also expands the range of expressions.

When combined with the DMW-XLR2 (sold separately), the LUMIX GH7 delivers the world's first 32-bit float recording,* improving the quality and efficiency of the entire workflow. With its wide dynamic range, the 32-bit float format records more information, from quiet to loud sounds, eliminating the need for tedious sound level adjustments during audio recording.

ARRI LogC3 Recording

By using DMW-SFU3A Software Upgrade Key (sold separately), users can use the ARRI LogC3*, which enables color matching with ARRI’s digital cinema cameras. The image processing of the ARRI LogC3 curve on LUMIX GH7 has been certified by ARRI for the implementation of this function. The options for Log recording, which provides rich color information and a wide dynamic range, have been expanded to include ARRI LogC3 in addition to the conventional V-Log, further improving LUMIX’s workflow compatibility.
*ARRI LogC3 is a Log gamma developed by ARRI and used in ARRI digital cinema cameras. Please note: ALEXA 35 uses ARRI LogC4. *On the LUMIX GH7, ARRI LogC3 can be used for 10bit recording in Creative Video mode. ・ARRI is registered trademarks of Arnold & Richter Cine Technik GmbH & Co. Betriebs KG.

Offering 4:2:2 10-bit C4K/4K 60p/50p internal recording, the LUMIX GH7 delivers unlimited recording time* when used at the recommended operating temperature**. Ideal for small production teams and in demanding conditions where mobility and high-quality are a must. Also allows for simultaneous internal recording and external recording via HDMI output.
*Under the guaranteed operating environment. When using a battery. Enjoy creative live streaming with digital single lens mirrorless cameras, both indoors and outdoors. Live streaming (RTMP/RTMPS protocol) can be easily configured via the LUMIX Lab app*.
・Live streaming to the platforms that comply with RTMP/RTMPS is basically possible (Compatibility with all the platforms is not guaranteed.) There may be cases where the live streaming is not possible when the platform’s service changes. For more information, please refer to the terms and conditions of the platform. ・Since the transmission speed of live streaming varies depending on the Internet environment, smartphone performance, etc., we recommend that you conduct a transmission test in advance. *Please update the camera firmware to version 1.3.

Color Grading Straight Out of the Camera

REAL TIME LUT

LUTs can be applied to photos and videos on the camera body itself, allowing you to create photos and videos straight out of the camera. Supports ".VLT" and ".CUBE" file formats. By utilizing this feature, you can save time on the complicated post-editing process. In combination with the LUMIX Lab app, you can easily create your own LUTs and install them on the camera.
