LUMIX Ambassadors
Johan Sörensen
"Today, you often hear people talk about technology, innovation, and storytelling. But to unlock all of these, you need the right tools. That’s what Panasonic’s Lumix is to me – the perfect tool. Lumix has changed the way I approach photography. With my GX8 or G9 and a few lenses, I have the tools and freedom that I need. The fact that they are so compact and lightweight allows me travel and move around with ease. The quality of the lenses and the digital negatives are also incredible. The features of the cameras are endless and fun to use as a professional photographer, outside or in the studio."
Johan Sörensen is a professional photographer from Sweden who first discovered his passion for photography while growing up in Paris. Today, he lives in Toronto where he teaches photography at Humber College. He also works as a consultant, a director of photography, and continues to build both his personal and commercial portfolios. Johan's work has been exhibited throughout North America and Europe, winning a number of awards including Best Commercial Photographer of the Year. His work has also been published in countless magazines including the French and American editions of Photo. Design, people, and colour are a strong focus of his work. Johan was first inspired by photography when he saw Helmut Newton's work hanging in a gallery. His passion for photography was solidified when his parents gifted him his first camera at the age of 11. He spent years taking black and white photos of life in Paris and the places he would travel with his family. Capturing images of the world around him became a powerful way of expressing himself after being diagnosed with dyslexia. The saying “a picture is worth a thousand words” very much reflects Johan’s belief that photography is an incredible form of communication. Johan is also a firm believer that you never stop learning. This belief drives his passion for teaching. Along with the idea that inspiration and stories are all around us. You just need to look at life through the right lens.
