LUMIX DMC-GH4 SPECIAL GALLERY
Enhance Your Videography with Anamorphic Lens and V-Log L
Instructor : Bryan Harvey (Filmmaker)
Panasonic Digital Single Lens Mirrorless Camera, LUMIX GH4, is a camera, built to evolve. With a firmware update Ver. 2.1, an anamorphic lens can be used. Furthermore, with a purchase of Upgrade Software Key DMW-SFU1(and the firmware update Ver.2.3), users can record video in V-Log L to achieve even higher dynamic range.
BEYOND THE LIMIT OF CONSUMER DIGITAL CAMERAS
Bryan Harvey is an accomplished director and cinematographer and recent founder of CLOUDBREAK, a production collective specializing in documentaries, commercials, and branded content.
Bryan says, "The feature that I'm most excited about is the new anamorphic video mode. This mode along with an anamorphic lens opens up new creative possibilities that were previously only available on big Hollywood cinema type cameras. The anamorphic lens gives you unique looking bokeh, or soft areas in the background, for a very cinematic look. Probably one of the main things that people look for, and a signature of the anamorphic look, is the blue flare. Any light source entering the front of the lens is generally going to have a blue flare to it and that's become a thing that people really like to see."
"V-Log L is a very flat profile which gives you two extra stops of dynamic range with the GH4, and that’s just incredible. This really revolutionizes the GH4, and allows for a much more cinematic capture of your video. Maximizing this added dynamic range preserves detail in the shadows and highlights, which allows much greater control of the image for color grading. This results in footage that looks remarkably like it was shot on film - a look that professional shooters are constantly striving to achieve."
Combining these features, users can create a special film with stunning quality that goes far beyond what a consumer digital camera can offer.
