Panasonic Vietnam together with the Ministry of Natural Resource and Environment support Thai Nguyen people to enhance green lifestyle and sustainable development
[May 25, 2019, Thai Nguyen Province] – On the occasion of the World Environment Day and plastic waste elimination campaign, Panasonic in cooperation with The Center for Natural Resource and Environment Communication – Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and Thai Nguyen People’s Committee presented nearly 10,300 trees in the annual tree-planting program “Panasonic for a green Vietnam” contributing to the green living environment and sustainable development of the local.
Thai Nguyen is the 6th destination in the journey of “Panasonic for a green Vietnam”. After six years, Panasonic presented over 120,000 trees to people of 6 provinces in the North and the South. This is one of Panasonic’s annual corporate social responsibility activities in Vietnam since 2013, not only bringing direct benefits to the local community such as protecting the environment and developing the economy but also contributing to the sustainable development of the country.

This year, more than 100 Panasonic employees planted 300 golden oaks covering 6.5 hectares of barren lands creating a green landscape and environment for nearly 200 households in Go Cao resettlement area, Hoa Thuong commune, Dong Hy district. In addition, 10,000 tea trees – a key crop of Thai Nguyen’s economic development – have been presented by Panasonic Vietnam to the people of the new agricultural economic zone of Phu Luong district with a hope of creating a stable economic source to people in the area.

In parallel, Panasonic organized a free eco-battery exchange program for people attending the tree-planting ceremony with an aim to raise awareness of Thai Nguyen people in using eco-battery and non-toxic energy source as well as handling used batteries properly so not to pollute the environment and affect human health. After 3 years of implementation, the program collected 50,000 toxic batteries and granted 20,000 Panasonic eco batteries.

In the framework of the program, Panasonic conducted an eco-learning class and eco-workshop for 100 students of Hoa Thuong secondary school by recycling used bottles to increase their awareness of reducing plastic waste, environment protection and encourage them to live a green lifestyle.
