Panasonic Oral Care Products
Reliable Quality with Japanese Technology
As a leading brand in the development of electric toothbrushes and irrigators, Panasonic has provided people with a wide range of products worldwide.
This is an introduction to our approach to manufacturing and the efforts we make to deliver genuine quality and reliability from Japan.
Applying advanced technologies that truly make life better, we live by an unparalleled commitment to product quality.
Our approach to product development originates in the DNA of Japanese craftsmanship.
Panasonic is building on the Japanese tradition of uncompromising quality control worldwide, developing and manufacturing fine products and delivering them to customers everywhere.
Establishment of thorough quality inspection items for all situations and risks and rigorous testing
At Panasonic, we have established quality inspection items based on our own strict standards for all of our products. Our aim is to provide the highest quality in products customers can use with confidence for a long time.
Inspections are conducted focusing on more than 200 evaluation items that have been determined by thoroughly identifying the risks faced by customers. Only products that pass these strict inspections are considered to provide the reliable quality that is globally recognized as Panasonic quality.
To further assure the finest quality possible in Japan, our skilled technical staff perform meticulous visual and hands-on inspections while also employing state-of-the-art inspection equipment.
Over 200 evaluation items covering all situations and risks
The items reflect feedback from the market and are constantly evolving to achieve zero return of products by customers.
Basic Performance
We perform tests to verify that customers will be satisfied with the performance our products provide.
Brush Amplitude Measurement
From the prototype stage, toothbrush amplitude is measured in units of 0.1 mm. During the production process, inspection of all the brushes ensures that they all have
amplitudes within specified limits. This confirms that our brushes deliver the performance to thoroughly remove plaque.
Air Leak Test
All products are inspected during the production process. A sealed space is created around products, and air is pressurized and depressurized so that it flows through the products to ascertain that no air enters or escapes. This verifies the waterproof performance of all shipped products.
Charge Capacity Measurement
Charge capacity is measured in a chamber that enables wide range temperature
adjustment from 0°C to 40 °C, which are much severe than the recommended operating temperature. This verifies that the battery can be charged in various climates.
Water Pressure and Frequency Measurement
The pressure and frequency of the pump, the heart of the product, are measured to verify that the product is as safe to use as it was designed to be.
Waterproof Performance Test
Products are submerged in water at a depth of 1 m for 30 minutes and inspected to verify no water has entered inside. Substitute tests are conducted for all products to confirm that there are no initial defects, and that waterproof performance is maintained even after many years of use.
Water Flow Test
After being placed in running water for an hour, products are inspected to verify no water has entered inside. This confirms that waterproof performance is sufficient enough to withstand the strong flow of water from a household tap.
Safety
Naturally, product performance must always enable safe use. We verify everything possible to make sure that even in the event of an unexpected accident or malfunction, the safety of our customers is ensured.
Overvoltage Test
To verify that the safety mechanism operates reliably, a voltage higher than that specified for the product is applied. This confirms safety in areas where voltage is unstable and in the event of abnormally high voltage due to incorrect use.
Short/Open Circuit Tests
Electricity is passed through circuits to short circuit them. This verifies that the safety
mechanism reliably cuts off the current. We also confirm safety in the event of a short
circuit due to the end of life of electronic components or damage by external impact.
Durability & Toughness
Since these products are used frequently every day, they have to be able to withstand repeated operation and load. We verify that they can be used comfortably for a long time in any environment.
Switch Durability Test
In tests that reproduce on/off switching tens of thousands of times over many years, we verify that operation remains normal. This confirms switch durability.
Rotational Load Life Test
A load is applied to the toothbrushes from above while they rotate to verify no abnormality occurs in the drive section. This confirms the durability to withstand loads from various directions in the mouth during use.
Drop Test
Products are dropped 2000 times from the same height as the main body on the assumption that the main body falls over, to verify that operation remains normal. This
confirms products are strong enough to withstand the impact of a fall.
Operation Verification at Low/High Temperatures
Normal operation at 0°C and 40°C is verified in a laboratory. This confirms our products can be safely used in a wide range of climatic and environmental conditions.

In addition to the above, the practicality of our products is evaluated by monitors, and over 200 strict inspection items are verified to ensure products are safe and that no injury can occur in the unlikely event of faulty operation or other problems.
Delivering flawless products to our customers. Panasonic's quality control, even after shipment
There are risks of product damage due to temperature change and impact during
transportation after shipment from the factory.
At Panasonic, quality control also focuses on delivering products to customers in perfect
condition. With this aim, we conduct a high temperature (80°C) storage test, and
packaged product drop and vibration tests to protect products from shocks and
temperature changes during transportation.
Packaged Product Drop Test
We verify packaging strength to ensure products are protected from impact if they are accidentally dropped.
Packaged Product Vibration Test
We check packaging strength to make sure products are protected from vibrations during transportation.
