The Activated Carbon Case
An activated carbon case that is used for a long time absorbs a lot of impurities from the water and changes to this brown color. If left as it is, the filter function will decrease, which may leave impurities in the water that should be removed by the device.
The Hollow Fiber Membrane
If you continue to use the hollow fiber membrane, it will continue to absorbs impurities, but it will change color to this extent and will lose capacity. In order for the cartridges to function properly, they must be used until their expiration date and replaced on a regular basis.
① The performance of the water conditioner / water purifier will be compromised.
As a cartridge is used, there is a high probability that its ability to purify water will gradually degrade, and it will not be able to remove the impurities that need to be filtered out. If this happens, the water conditioner / water purifier will be overloaded and may not be able to perform properly.
② The chlorine odor and targeted impurities will no longer be removed from the purified water.
As explained in ①, if the cartridge isn't replaced then the water purification function will be diminished. A major role of the water purification process is the removal of chlorine odors and impurities that are characteristic of tap water, and purified water not only smells less chlorinated, but tastes less like chlorine as well.
③ The flow of purified water (the amount of purified water that can be created at one time) will be reduced.
The cartridges contain multiple filters for purification, called filter media, but with continued use, unwanted impurities can build up in the filter media and cause them to clog. This reduces the amount of water that can pass through the cartridge, which means that less water can be purified at a time, which reduces cost effectiveness.
