Panasonic Scholarship Asia: Alumni Homecoming Batch 2016 - 2023
Last July 12, 2024, the CSR Team of Panasonic held its PSA 2024 homecoming at the PMPC Auditorium. Scholars from different batches gathered for a one-day event exclusively dedicated to the hardworking alumni of PMPC.
The program began with a presentation by PMPC Hiring Officer Veberly Dimla, who outlined job opportunities and benefits available to PSA alumni who are interested in working at Panasonic. The highlight of the homecoming event was a series of personal stories before, during, and after receiving the PMPC scholarship. A common sentiment in their narrative was deep gratitude towards Panasonic for the academic support they received.
As Mr. Kazuya Higami (PMPC President) stated, “The only expectation we have from you is your gratitude, and the only way to express your gratitude is to pay it forward.” This message captures the scholarship’s goal, highlighting the importance of continuous self-improvement and dedication to achieve your dreams.
The event ended with scholars and employees present singing the company song. The line “here we are this amazing world built on the dreams of those who believe” embodies the scholars future aspirations. That believing in themselves, is the key to their success. The PMPC scholars, now alumni, are the nation builders, destined to contribute to the progress of our nation.

Inspiring Stories: From Panasonic Scholarship Asia (PSA) scholar to becoming a Panasonic Manufacturing Philippines Corporation (PMPC) employee.
To gain an insight as to how the Panasonic Scholarship Asia (PSA) uplifted the lives of its recipients, a quick conversation was had with Ms. Clarinalyn Boco and Ms. Rose Casapao, scholars who chose to continue the journey with Panasonic as they build their careers.
Backtracking to the scholars’ college years, both first mentioned how the PSA was able to help them during this time. Ms. Boco was able to utilize the scholarship to finance her studies until her board exam and assist her family with their daily expenses. Similarly, Ms. Casapao felt the impact of the scholarship as she funded her research work through it and acquired her own laptop and printer, on top of being able to assist in paying for their household’s utilities. She also mentioned how the scholarship granted her the privilege of being a full-time student who needed not to worry about finances, boosting her productivity not only in academics but also in the extracurricular work that she partook in during college. Ms. Boco also mentioned that the PSA also provided her with a mindset towards life that stems from the principles set by Mr. Konusuke Matsushita.
Asking why they chose to continue their journey with Panasonic Manufacturing Philippines Corporation (PMPC) to this day, both scholars owed it as a means of showing their gratitude to the company, as the scholarship was able to provide aid and opportunities to them back when they were still studying. Beyond gratitude, proximity to the workplace and competitive salary were also reasons to stay and adapt from being a PSA scholar to a full-time employee at PMPC.
This shift was quite the experience, as discussed by Ms. Casapao, due in part to the larger responsibilities and expected contribution towards the success of the company. Ms. Boco shared similar sentiments, having self-imposed pressure as she initially thought that employees had higher expectations from her as a PSA scholar. These struggles were temporary though, as both scholars eventually settled in at their respective departments and now do their best as they have become a part of the company’s operations.
Before ending the conversation, we asked them for advice to give to current and future Panasonic Scholarship Asia scholars. Ms. Casapao simply shared the quote, “Just do what your heart's telling you to do, even if you're scared.” At the same time, Ms. Boco advised them to continue pursuing their goals and dreams despite circumstances and shared a quote from Mr. Konosuke Matsushita: “The world is in a constant state of change and flux. Even if you fail once, do not lose heart: as you keep on trying, patiently and steadily, the situation may change to your advantage, and new doors may open to you.”
Panasonic Internship Program
In keeping with Panasonic Manufacturing Philippines Corporation’s (PMPC) desire to invite the public to be a part of its operations as a global company, opportunities such as the Panasonic Internship Program are made available to graduating students seeking on-the-job training in fulfillment of their college programs.
As the first Filipino-Japanese joint venture operation for consumer electronics in the country, its operations cover the manufacturing, importation, and distribution of electronic, electrical, mechanical, electromechanical appliances, parts and components, batteries, and other types of machines and products under the Panasonic brand name. With this, PMPC can provide interns with first-hand knowledge across various fields, including engineering, accounting, computer science, industrial design, marketing, and customs administration.
Upon orientation, interns are assigned to mentors who will integrate them into the workflow of departments relevant to the intern’s program. Weekly evaluations are then conducted, ensuring that interns can pick up new knowledge as they work through the internship program. Through these efforts, the Panasonic Internship Program can act on the company’s belief of achieving real success as a global organization through dedicated, motivated, and effective human resources.
Kids Witness News
In preparation to compete in the Panasonic Kid Witness News (KWN) Summit this October 2024, wherein the youth at the elementary, junior high, and senior high school levels are tasked to create socially relevant video productions, the two participating schools from the Philippines (Regional Lead School for the Arts in Angono, St. Martin Montessori School, Inc.) are already at work to create their submissions with support from Panasonic Manufacturing Philippines Corporation (PMPC)’s CSR Team.
Starting last February 10, 2024, the partner schools have already begun with the dissemination of material to the students, primarily revolving around the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. This material was provided to the participating students using a lecture in collaboration with teachers from the partner schools. Afterwards, the students are made to submit reflections to ensure retention of the concepts tackled per lecture.
The succeeding weeks then saw the participants work towards their video productions, drafting ideas through activities such as group presentations, scriptwriting, and identification of their projects’ key details. These key details include the SDGs they would focus on, scheduling of tasks, preparation of props, setting of filming location, as well as the storyline and type of video production to be done.
On top of the work done towards the video submission, the two schools have also prepared their own programs to directly address some of the social issues they have learned about during their discussions of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. For the Regional Lead School for the Arts in Angono, they would be conducting a clean-up drive on waterways local to them, utilizing recycled cleaning materials procured with the help of PMPC, while St. Martin Montessori School, Inc. is bound to conduct a feeding program at a local community.
Through these preparations and our support here at PMPC, expect the Philippine representatives for the 2024 Panasonic (KWN) Summit to bring their A-game and raise the flag through their interpretation and enactment of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
Bloodletting
Last December 21, 2023, Panasonic Manufacturing Philippines Corporation (PMPC) partnered with the Philippine Red Cross to stage the “Give Blood on Christmas Day” event that aims to encourage PMPC employees to donate blood and help improve the health of individuals that rely on blood transfusions.
Held at the PMPC Auditorium, a medical team administered the donation drive, ensuring the safety of the employees that would be willing to donate blood. With an initial target of only 20 employees for donation, the “Give Blood on Christmas Day” event was able to garner an additional 42, leading to the final tally of 62 donations.
Having served as an activity that promotes Panasonic Corporate Citizenship to the employees by committing themselves to social contribution in the form of blood donations, the completed “Give Blood on Christmas Day” event also worked towards some of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals such as good health and well-being (Goal #3), and partnerships for the goals (Goal #17). On top of this, the successful turn out of the event also led to the Philippine Red Cross awarding 6 vouchers of any blood unit to PMPC, which any employee may use should the need for emergency blood transfusion arise.
The concluded “Give Blood on Christmas Day” event’s impact does not stop at the act of donating, as all employees involved continue to touch the lives of their blood’s recipients to this day. Recognizing the value and life-saving nature of blood donation, PMPC was able to prepare a unique love gift with the help of its employees through this event.
Eco Relay (Vegetable Backyard Farming at Tahanang Walang Hagdanan)
Partnering with Tahanang Walang Hagdan last February 24, 2024, Panasonic Manufacturing Philippines Corporation (PMPC) held a backyard farming event that counts towards this year’s Panasonic ECO RELAY efforts.
The event involved the planting of food crops into seedling boxes, as well as the transfer of seedlings that are mature enough into open soil at Tahanang Walang Hagdan’s backyard farm. Switching their laptops and ballpens for shovels and gloves, the activity showcased the strength of PMPC’s corporate social responsibility drive as well as the innate teamwork found within its employees.
Having served as an educational activity, through the introduction to the participants to backyard farming, the participants were able to work towards multiple of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals, such as zero hunger (Goal #2), reduced inequalities (Goal #10), sustainable cities and communities (Goal #11), climate action (Goal #13), and partnerships for the goals (Goal #17). On top of this, the produce gained not only provides food to the residents of Tahanang Walang Hagdan, but also helps maintain ecological balance through its impact on the surrounding ecosystem by providing nutrients to organisms, as well as cleaning the air we breathe through carbon capture.
Moving forward, the ECO RELAY does not stop with the conclusion of this event. All involved are called to continue their roles as builders towards a sustainable future, in whatever situation they may find themselves in.
