Air cooler vs air conditioner: what are the differences?
Discover how an air cooler and air conditioner works to cool your living space to decide the most eco-friendly option for you and your loved ones.
The two types of cooling systems
Both air cooler and air conditioners essentially do the same thing — produce cool air. The difference lies in how they cool the air.
Air coolers use a fan to blow hot air through a water-soaked pad. As air passes through the pad, the water evaporates and cools the air. This cooler air is then recirculated through the room.
Air conditioners, on the other hand, work by taking in warm, moisture-rich air and replacing it with dry, cold air, with the help of a chemical called a refrigerant.
Introducing a more environmentally friendly air conditioner
Air coolers use less energy and do not use refrigerants, making them an economical and environmentally-friendly alternative to traditional air conditioners.
However, for people in humid countries, air coolers may not be the best option as these create more moisture that adds even more humidity into the air. In contrast, air conditioners work well in practically every type of climate.
Panasonic’s Inverter air conditioners, like the Premium Inverter, reduce energy consumption by adjusting its motor speed once the desired temperature has been reached.
Smaller carbon footprint
The Premium Inverter also has a smaller carbon footprint than conventional air conditioners as it uses the more eco-friendly R32 refrigerant, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and ozone depletion.
The Premium Inverter also comes armed with nanoe™ Technology, which freshens the air in your home, inhibits the growth of bacteria and viruses and removes dust to create a cleaner living environment.
This multitasking technology uses nano-sized water ions, which carry the pathogen-killing weapon called hydroxyl (OH) radicals.
A smarter, greener way to cool your air
• Purifies air in your living space: revolutionary nanoe™ Technology deodorises unpleasant smells, inhibits growth of bacteria and viruses and removes tiny dust particles.
• Smart air control: Using just your mobile device, the Panasonic Comfort Cloud app allows you to remotely adjust real-time air conditoning temperature, improve the air quality with nanoe™ mode, monitor energy usage and pre-cool your space to enjoy the cool comfort of your home ahead of your arrival.
