Road Surface Condition Sensor with IR-Logic Sensing

Abstract

Abstract

Available 5 modes of detection (Dry, Damp, Wet, Snow, and Ice) for monitoring road surface conditions from 10m height by IR*-Logic.
Road condition information monitoring by sensor which installed on the roadside infrastructure.

IR* : Infrared

Features

Features

ROAD SURFACE DETECTION

Noncontact Sensing & Non Camera-based Solution

IR-logic sensing is capable of monitoring road surface from 10m height and it detects road surface even a conditions which are difficult to find by camera-based solutions (like road surface freezing covered with black ice, etc).

Compact Size

80 x 160 x 100mm

Detecting 5 conditions

The sensor can detect 5 road surface conditions.
(Dry, Damp, Wet, Snow, and Ice)

Technical Advantages

Technical Advantages

OPTICAL KNOW-HOW & ADVANCED ALGORITHM

High Precision & Accurate Sensing

High precision & accurate sensing achieved by optical know-how and advanced algorithm based on our own spectrum knowledge.

Easy Installation

Road closures and underground cable work are not required for installation because the sensor is to be installed on the roadside infrastructure (e, g , pole of streetlight , ITS gate , etc.).

High Noise Immunity

Ensuring immunity against headlight, sunlight, and objects passing through the detection area.

Applications

Applications

EXAMPLE OF SENSOR APPLICATION SYSTEM

For Traffic Control

Monitoring road conditions and distributing traffic information through existing digital signboards, etc.

For Road Map Service

Distributing road condition information for drivers through navigation systems to avoid dangerous roads.

For Allocation of Road Maintenance Vehicles

Optimized to allocate snowplows, etc.

For Autonomous Driving

Realize a "safer" Autonomous Driving System by receiving road condition information monitoring by sensor which installed on the roadside infrastructure.
