The new F2.8 - 4.5, 24 - 480 mm LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens boasts high optical performance for both photos and videos.
This lens system features an inner zoom structure with guide-pole mechanism for smooth, stable zooming, and dramatically suppresses image shift by 80% compared with the predecessor FZ1000. A coreless DC motor also enables slow constantly zooming from wide to 20x tele-end.
A galvanometer drive iris, which is used in professional video cameras, smoothly catches up with sudden changes in brightness. This assures smooth, seamless iris control even when zooming.
20x optical zoom in a compact body
The new LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens has an F2.8 - 4.5 brightness that resists blurring even for telephoto shots, and an angle of view that extends from 24 mm wide-angle to 20x optical zoom* while maintaining the body size.
The lens unit consists of 16 elements in 11 groups, including 4 ED lenses, 5 aspherical lenses with 8 aspherical surfaces, and a UHR lens. This lens meets Leica's stringent standards in the MTF value and in the suppression of ghosts and flaring.
Panasonic’s unique aspherical lens mold technology achieves a beautiful, evenly smooth defocus with an invisible edge line.
* 35 mm camera equivalent: 24 - 480 mm.
Built-in ND filter for flexible exposure control
Built-in ND filters are essential for creative video shooting. You can record videos while maintaining the exposure level with a fixed shutter speed or with an open aperture even in high brightness. For still photo recording, it also enables beautiful bokeh effects and slow-shutter shooting even under clear skies.
Macro Shooting (3 cm)
Stunning macro photos can be shot with minimum focusing distance of 3 cm. You can enjoy shooting close-up shots with the LUMIX FZ2500 only to express spectacular details of flowers, insects and so on.
Video creation to meet pro quality
The LUMIX FZ2500 further evolves to meet professional quality and standard with the capability of 4K (Cinema 4K: 4096 x 2160 / 24 fps and QFHD 4K: 3840 x 2160 / up to 30 fps) video recording in MOV / MP4 and ultra high bitrate Full HD video recording at 200 Mbps (ALL-Intra) / 100 Mbps (IPB) without recording duration limit. In addition, a variety of practical functions required for professional video recording are newly integrated.
* Use SDXC/SDHC Memory Card compatible with UHS Speed Class 3 (U3) when using high bitrate video recording mode of 100 Mbps or greater.
Live output via HDMI
The LUMIX FZ2500 is capable of real-time image output (4:2:2/8 bit or 4:2:2/10 bit) to the external monitor via an optional micro HDMI cable*. It is suitable for professional video making that requires serious monitoring of imagery. You can choose to output only the recording content or the content with the display menu.
* When using 4:2:2 / 10-bit output, simultaneous video recording on SDXC / SDHC Memory Card in the camera is not possible. When using 4:2:2 / 8-bit output, video is recorded in 4:2:0 / 8-bit on SDXC / SDHC Memory Card in the camera.
Slow / Quick Motion
The VFR (Variable Frame Rate) lets you record videos with slow or quick motion, such as 120 fps / 5x,* all in Full HD. The slow/quick motion function also lets you switch between 1/2x slow and 2x quick motion in a single video while recording.
* In 24p playback.
Dolly Zoom
This technique zooms only the background, without changing the subject's size. It’s often
used to express feelings, such as confusion, distress, or surprise.
Cinelike Gamma
"CINELIKE D" and "CINELIKE V" give the video rich, cinema-like gradation.
V-Log L Upgrading
The DMW-SFU1 Upgrade Software Key
(sold separately) enables log video
recording (V-Log L) with exceptional
flexibility as well as a wider dynamic range
for colour grading in the post-production
process. It boasts a log characteristic with
12 stops, and the same characteristic
curve and LUT (Look Up Table) can be
used in common.
Operation Type
The GUI is for exclusive video use. The
operation type is selectable from Shutter
Duration/ISO, Angle/ISO, or Shutter
Duration/dB.
Time Code
An SMPTE-compliant Time Code in either
Rec Run or Free Run count-up method
makes it easy to synchronise multiple
video footage or sound sources in the
post-production workflow. Drop Frame or
Non-Drop Frame is also selectable in the
59.94Hz or 23.98Hz setting.
Large 1-inch sensor –
Stunning images even in low light
The large 1-inch 20.1-megapixel High Sensitivity MOS Sensor improves the S/N ratio,
making it possible to capture clear images with minimum noise even when shot at
ISO12800 / Extended ISO25600. The rich amount of light helps to produce an impressive
defocus with shallow depth of field. It lets you create truly stunning images in a wide variety
of shooting situations.
Advanced Image Processor: Venus Engine
The LUMIX FZ2500 incorporates the same Venus Engine as LUMIX high-end system cameras. It enables high-quality image captures and high-speed signal processing required for 4K video recording and high bit-rate video recording. The combination of the High Sensitivity MOS Sensor and the Venus Engine achieves stunning picture quality even in low-light situations. Sensitivity, gradation performance, resolution and colour reproduction are dramatically improved to achieve even higher picture quality.
Ultra high speed focusing
Capture even the fastest moving action thanks to DFD
(Depth From Defocus) technology. It instantly calculates
the distance to the subject by evaluating two images with
different sharpness levels, and achieves ultra-high-speed
AF and 7 fps burst shooting with AFC.
12 fps burst shooting with AFS is also available.
0.74x Large OLED LVF with 2,360K-dot
A high-resolution 2,360K-dot OLED Live View Finder allows high visibility thanks to 10,000:1 contrast and perfect framing even under direct sunlight. High 0.74x magnification (35 mm camera equivalent) and a wide-viewing angle make it easy to see image details even when the eye is moved away from the center of the viewfinder.
The rear monitor with tilt/swivel capability gives you the freedom to find unusual perspectives while maintaining easy operation and full image control. Plus, touch control lets you immediately set focus on the subject by simply touching it on the screen, and even lets you release the shutter with a single touch.
Direct, intuitive lens barrel operation
A dual ring control system enables focusing and zooming, just like LUMIX G zoom lenses. ND filter and three Fn buttons on the lens barrel offer smooth video operation just like professional video cameras. WB colour temperature setting and slow & quick zoom setting can be allocated to the Fn buttons to enhance video operation.
Everything in the right place
The well-defined grip provides a stable hold with minimum fatigue despite its substantial weight. The front/rear dual dial system enables direct setting of shutter speed and aperture, just like LUMIX G cameras. The optimum dial, button, lever and switch layout provides intuitive, comfortable control for both photo and video shooting.
