25-600 mm Lens with
Full Range F2.8 Aperture

The DMC-FZ200 is equipped with a high-quality LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT 25 mm ultra wide-angle lens with a 24x optical zoom (35 mm camera equivalent: 25-600 mm). The DMC-FZ200 offers full range F2.8 aperture at 600 mm making it possible to capture moving subjects clearly with fast shutter speed, even from a distance.

Plus, Panasonic’s Nano Surface Coating technology minimizes light reflection at the entire zoom range (380nm-780nm) resulting in super clear picture with a dramatic reduction of ghost and flare.

High Sensitivity MOS Sensor for Noise-Free Shooting

The new 12.1-megapixel High Sensitivity MOS sensor boasts excellent S/N ratio resulting in super clear images with less noise even in high sensitivity recording. Together with the high performance image processing LSI Venus Engine, the MOS sensor elevates response, sensitivity and image quality at the highest level.

Light Speed AF and Burst Shooting

Light Speed AF (auto focus) combines with the FZ200’s ability to capture high speed burst shooting at 12 fps (frames per second) in full resolution and a quick start-up time of approximately 0.95 seconds, so users never miss even the most fleeting shooting opportunities.

1,920 x 1,080p Full HD Video Recording

The DMC-FZ200 can record high-resolution Full HD 1,920 x 1,080 60p (NTSC) videos in AVCHD Progressive (MPEG-4 / H.264) format. Upgrading the Full HD recording capability from interlaced to progressive, subjects with fast motion or fine details are reproduced even more clearly.

The DMC-FZ200 can also record Full HD 1,920 x 1,080 30p (NTSC) videos in MP4 format, which is suitable for editing on a computer or to upload on websites.

1,312K-dots Equivalent High-Resolution EVF

The newly developed 0.2-inch EVF (Electronic View Finder) features a 1,312,000-dots equivalent high resolution, 100 percent field of view and minimum screen freeze, making it suitable for shooting fast-moving subjects under strong sunlight.

POWER O.I.S. with Active Mode

The POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) suppresses the low-frequency vibration hand-shake component, which is physically generated when pressing the shutter button or when shooting at night with a slow shutter speed. The POWER O.I.S. also works for powerful zoom shots, which are especially susceptible to hand-shake. Active mode is effective for video recording.

AFF Mode

The newly added focus mode AFF (AF Flexible) locks on the focus when shutter button is half-pressed, however, if the subject moves, the focusing is reset to get the best results.

Creative Retouch

Creative Control (in recording mode) and Creative Retouch (in playback mode) gives you the expressive power to turn ordinary situations into highly special scenes.

Panorama Shot

The Panorama Shot Mode in Scene Mode makes it possible to shoot a horizontal / vertical panoramic image with sequential shots taken by overlaying the previous image.

24x Optical Zoom in Video Recording

The 24x optical zoom will capture highly natural expressions from people and animals and dynamic sports scenes. The side lever makes it smoother to zoom and focus, which is convenient in video recording.

High-speed Videos in HD

The DMC-FZ200 records high-speed videos at 120 fps (NTSC / HD)* or 240 fps (NTSC / VGA)* in MP4 format. You can capture scenes that can't be seen with the naked eye, and play them back in dramatic slow motion.

Creative Video Mode

Creative Video Mode lets you adjust the shutter speed and aperture any way you like when shooting videos.

Stereo Microphone

For video recording mode, the high-quality Dolby^® Digital Stereo Creator offers highly realistic and powerful sound for videos. The stereo zoom microphone features a zoom noise reduction system and an Auto Wind Cut function to reduce background noise from wind.

3.0" Free-angle LCD

The 3.0-inch, 460,000-dot free-angle LCD rotates 180° to the side and tilts 270° up and down, and gives you approx. 100% field of view. This is a highly practical feature for high-angle shots, like when you need to shoot over the heads of people at a parade, and enables accurate, dynamic framing for artistic low-angle shots, like when shooting at nearly ground level. It's extremely convenient when shooting with a tripod too.

iA (Intelligent Auto) /
iA Plus Mode

With iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode, the camera does all the work, leaving you free to compose shots and capture moments in both photo and video recording. In addition, the iA Plus Mode enables you to adjust defocusing area, exposure compensation and white balance for even more flexible control.

Expandability Options

For more advanced creative freedom, the DMC-FZ200 is equipped with a hot shoe allowing attachment of various accessories including an optional stereo microphone (DMW-MS1) or an optional external flash (DMW-FL220 / FL360 / FL500). The DMC-FZ200 is also compatible with an optional remote shutter (DMW-RSL1) for advanced expression in photography.
