The Steps:

1. Trim to a Uniform Length (Sideburns/Jaw)

Using the comb attachment, trim entire beard to a length of 8mm. Styling Tip: Instead of trimming in one direction, it’s better to trim in the opposite direction as well. This lets you cut to a uniform length without missing any long whiskers.

2. Make Arc-shaped Lines (Cheeks)

Shave unwanted hair to create curved lines.

3. Create a Clear Line (Neckline)

Clearly shave unwanted hair to create a neat, well-defined neckline. Shave the line under two fingers placed where the neck and throat meet for a natural look. Styling Tips: Move the blade against the grain of the whiskers to achieve that desired clean shave.

4. Define the Moustache with Angular Lines (Moustache)

Make defined lines to give the moustache an angular appearance. Top/bottom: Cut unwanted hair to create sharp lines. Sides: Cut lines that are almost vertical.

Long Stubble

The Look: Long stubble is perfect whether you’re going for a classy elegant look or a casual, cool style. Fading where the sideburns meet the hair and beard provides a natural finish.

1. Trim to a Uniform Length (Sideburns/Jaw)

Fade the areas where sideburns and chinstrap meet, cutting to a length of 7 mm. Styling Tips: Fading where the sideburns meet the chinstrap and hair provides smooth gradation for a natural finish. When fading, pull the trimmer outwards when nearing the hair for good results.

Pompadour

The Look: The pompadour provides a masculine yet smart appearance. When hair grows just a little longer, the style is lost—so here is a fading technique you can use when you need to cut hair that has grown too long on the sides and at the nape of the neck.

The Tool: ER-SC40 Premium Hair Clipper

The Steps:

1. Sectioning (Sides)

Part your hair on the side (line A).

2. Cut to 10 mm under Line A (Sides/Back)

Cut from nap to line A: 10 mm. Cut to an equivalent height on the other side. Styling Tip: To cut hair around the ears, hold down the ear and cut from the temple towards the back of the head from bottom to top. The trick to not cutting too much is to select a slightly longer cutting length at first, and then gradually cut shorter until it’s the length you want.

3. Cut to 6 mm under Line B (Sides/Back)

Trim the area around the ear and nape (from nape to line B).

4. Cut to 3 mm under Line C (Nape/Around Ears)

Trim the area between the ear and nape: 3mm (from nape to line C). Include connected parts from sideburns to cheeks.

5. Fade the Gap on Line A (Line A)

Trim to graduate between 10mm and 6mm long areas (line A).Styling Tips: Fading is important to achieve a clean finish with no visible difference where areas of different hair lengths meet. Set the length to midway between the two different hair lengths and cut from bottom to top as indicated by the arrow in the photo. Cutting is completed when there is no obvious difference in hair lengths. You can also use this fading technique to cut hair that has grown too long to maintain the desired length.
