Photographic and visual expression to delight creators
AFC 30fps burst shooting
Thanks to the new sensor’s higher readout speed and new engine’s superior processing power, the LUMIX S5IIX delivers AFC burst shooting using the electronic shutter at 30 frames per second with 24.2-megapixel resolution. The sensor’s higher readout speed also minimizes rolling shutter distortion and captures images too fast for the naked eye to process.
96MP ultra-high-resolution recording
High Resolution Mode allows you to shoot ultra-detailed nature shots with a tripod, as well as other works of art that combine grandeur with precision. The camera automatically captures eight consecutive images while shifting the sensor, and the new engine’s high-speed signal processing smoothly synthesizes them into a 96-megapixel equivalent (12,000 x 8,000-pixel) image. RAW and JPEG file recording during shooting and RAW processing during playback (RAW-to-JPEG conversion) are supported, with quick access via the drive mode dial.
Live View Composite
The camera takes multiple images, creating composite images from only those areas that vary in brightness. This feature is convenient for taking images of the night sky that show the light trails of stars or fireworks. Each time the shutter is operated, a composite image is displayed, allowing users to shoot while confirming the results in real time.
Heat management for unlimited recording time
4:2:2 10-bit C4K/4K 60p/50p unlimited recording time.* With a compact body equivalent to the S5, the LUMIX S5IIX’s optimized heat dissipation path and heat dissipation structure with forced cooling fan enables extended recording even when shooting at heavy loads (e.g. high-resolution video over 4K, HFR video).
*The camera may stop recording when used in a temperature that is lower or higher than the recommended operating temperature (0 to 40 degrees). Recording stops when the continuous recording time exceeds 30 minutes in [6K/29.97p] [6K/25.00p] [5.9K/29.97p] [5.9K/25.00p] when Thermal Management mode is set to Standard.
6K 10-bit recording
With 6K (5952x3968, 3:2), 6K (5952x3136, 17:9) and 5.9K (5888x3312, 16:9) 4:2:0 10-bit 30p/25p/24p modes, the LUMIX S5IIX offers higher resolution and higher bit rates than ever before, and delivers the latest in high image quality, versatility, and expressive range needed for film, TV, and all types of video production.
HFR (high frame rate)
Slow-motion recording, a recent trend in video production, is made possible using FHD 10-bit 120p/100p video recording with audio. Or shoot high-resolution C4K/4K 10-bit (4:3) and 3.3K 10-bit (4:3) video at 48p. You can even shoot double slow-motion video at the cinematic frame rate of 24p. Allows tracking AF during HFR video recording.
Max. 7.5x slow motion and max. 60x quick motion
Offers up to 7.5x super slow-motion (FHD 24p/180fps) video at 10-bit recording. Equipped with Slow & Quick Motion modes, the LUMIX S5IIX lets you easily overcrank or undercrank your video while shooting. With quick motion up to 60x (C4K/4K/FHD 60p/1fps), the S5IIX enables you to create emotional images or smoothly capture dynamic movement too quick for the naked eye.
Anamorphic recording
4:3 aspect ratio anamorphic recording is key to LUMIX's impressive video performance. The LUMIX S5IIX can capture 3.3K (3328x2496) 50p/30p/25p/24p 4:2:0 10-bit video. Designed to accommodate anamorphic lenses in a wide range of magnification rates, including 1.3x, 1.33x, 1.5x, 1.8x, and 2.0x, the S5IIX’s Anamorphic Desqueeze Display function gives you the ability confirm the cinemascope-size image on a monitor while shooting.
4ch audio recording
The LUMIX S5IIX delivers much improved audio recording performance, with 4ch 48kHz or 96kHz 24-bit recording possible* when an XLR microphone adaptor DMW-XLR1 (sold separately) is attached. This LUMIX S5IIX gives you much greater flexibility when shooting outdoors, for example, where multiple audio sources are present, or when recording backup audio. Now also supports 2ch 48kHz 24-bit recording with the built-in mic and 2ch 96kHz 24-bit high-resolution recording* with an external mic (sold separately).
*MOV and ProRes only.

Direct recording to USB-SSD
With the LUMIX S5IIX, recording and playback is supported using an external SSD via USB. In addition, the ability to record ProRes 422 HQ (maximum 1.9Gbps) and 4:2:2 10-bit All-Intra directly to SSDs, which combine portability and high capacity has improved efficiency in data backup and post-processing.
・High frame rate video exceeding 60.00p cannot be recorded to an external SSD. ・It is not possible to record video and photo on the SD card simultaneously while recording it on the external SSD. ・Use an external SSD no more than 2 TB in size that is compatible with USB Type-C. We recommend using an external SSD whose operation has been confirmed by Panasonic. Note beforehand that this is not a guarantee of operation on all devices. ・Latest information on the external SSDs will be available at the following support site at the same time as firmware release:

All-Intra video
The ALL-Intra compression method, which allows frame-by-frame decoding/encoding, is ideal for non-linear editing. The LUMIX S5IIX can record at bit rates of up to C4K/4K 800Mpbs.
*Onboard recording at bit rates of up to 800Mpbs is possible, while recording at bit rates above 800Mbps can be done to an external SSD via USB cable.
Apple ProRes codec video
You can record ProRes 422 HQ and ProRes 422 codec videos, the professional industry standard, which deliver high image quality at low compression. This significantly reduces the load on the computer during post-production and allows non-linear editing without transcoding, streamlining your workflow from start to finish.
The LUMIX S5IIX can record FHD (1920x1080) internally and 5.8K (5776x3056, 17:9), C4K (4096x2160, 17:9) and 3.3K (3328x2496, 4:3) to an external SSD via USB.

Streaming anytime, anywhere
Wireless live streaming / USB-tethering (RTMP/RTMPS)
Enjoy creative live streaming with digital single lens mirrorless cameras, both indoors and outdoors. Live streaming (RTMP/RTMPS protocol) can be easily configured via the LUMIX Sync app (Android / iOS). In environments with a lot of radio interference, stable communication speed can be ensured by tethering the camera via USB to a smartphone.
・Live streaming to the platforms that comply with RTMP/RTMPS is basically possible (Compatibility with all the platforms is not guaranteed.) There may be the cases where the live streaming is not possible when the service of the platform changes. For more information, please refer to the terms and conditions of the platform. ・Since the transmission speed of live streaming varies depending on the Internet environment, smartphone performance, etc., we recommend that you conduct a transmission test in advance. ・Android and Google Play are trademarks or registered trademarks of Google Inc.
・IOS is a trademark or registered trademark of Cisco in the U.S. and other countries and is used under license.
Wired live streaming (RTP/RTSP)
Enjoy highly stable communication via IP streaming (RTP/RTSP) over a wired LAN connection in indoor environments. Connecting cameras and PCs via wired LAN cable, multiple cameras can be controlled for delivery of high-quality video and audio up to 4K 60p/50p. H.264 and H.265 codecs are selectable.
*A commercially available USB ethernet adaptor is required to convert the DC-S5IIX's USB Type C terminal to a LAN terminal. Compatibilities of USB ethernet adapter: https://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/dsc/connect/ethernet_adp/index.html
