Photographic and visual expression to delight creators
AFC 30fps burst shooting
Thanks to the new sensor’s higher readout speed and new engine’s superior processing power, the LUMIX S5II delivers AFC burst shooting using the electronic shutter at 30 frames per second with 24.2-megapixel resolution. The sensor’s higher readout speed also minimizes rolling shutter distortion and captures images too fast for the naked eye to process.
96MP ultra-high-resolution recording
High Resolution Mode allows you to shoot ultra-detailed nature shots with a tripod, as well as other works of art that combine grandeur with precision. The camera automatically captures eight consecutive images while shifting the sensor, and the new engine’s high-speed signal processing smoothly synthesizes them into a 96-megapixel equivalent (12,000 x 8,000-pixel) image. RAW and JPEG file recording during shooting and RAW processing during playback (RAW-to-JPEG conversion) are supported, with quick access via the drive mode dial.
Live View Composite
The camera takes multiple images, creating composite images from only those areas that vary in brightness. This feature is convenient for taking images of the night sky that show the light trails of stars or fireworks. Each time the shutter is operated, a composite image is displayed, allowing users to shoot while confirming the results in real time.
*Firmware update scheduled for summer 2023.
Heat management for unlimited recording time
4:2:2 10-bit C4K/4K 60p/50p unlimited recording time.* With a compact body equivalent to the S5, the LUMIX S5II’s optimized heat dissipation path and heat dissipation structure with forced cooling fan enables extended recording even when shooting at heavy loads (e.g. high-resolution video over 4K, HFR video).
*The camera may stop recording when used in a temperature that is lower or higher than the recommended operating temperature (0 to 40 degrees). Recording stops when the continuous recording time exceeds 30 minutes in [6K/29.97p] [6K/25.00p] [5.9K/29.97p] [5.9K/25.00p] when Thermal Management mode is set to Standard.
6K 10-bit recording
With 6K (5952x3968, 3:2), 6K (5952x3136, 17:9) and 5.9K (5888x3312, 16:9) 4:2:0 10-bit 30p/25p/24p modes, the LUMIX S5II offers higher resolution and higher bit rates than ever before, and delivers the latest in high image quality, versatility, and expressive range needed for film, TV, and all types of video production.
HFR (high frame rate)
Slow-motion recording, a recent trend in video production, is made possible using FHD 10-bit 120p/100p video recording with audio. Or shoot high-resolution C4K/4K 10-bit (4:3) and 3.3K 10-bit (4:3) video at 48p. You can even shoot double slow-motion video at the cinematic frame rate of 24p. Allows tracking AF during HFR video recording.
Max. 7.5x slow motion and max. 60x quick motion
Offers up to 7.5x super slow-motion (FHD 24p/180fps) video at 10-bit recording. Equipped with Slow & Quick Motion modes, the LUMIX S5II lets you easily overcrank or undercrank your video while shooting. With quick motion up to 60x (C4K/4K/FHD 60p/1fps), the S5II enables you to create emotional images or smoothly capture dynamic movement too quick for the naked eye.
4ch audio recording
The LUMIX S5II delivers much improved audio recording performance, with 4ch 48kHz or 96kHz 24-bit recording possible* when an XLR microphone adaptor DMW-XLR1 (sold separately) is attached. This LUMIX S5II gives you much greater flexibility when shooting outdoors, for example, where multiple audio sources are present, or when recording backup audio. Now also supports 2ch 48kHz 24-bit recording with the built-in mic and 2ch 96kHz 24-bit high-resolution recording* with an external mic (sold separately).
*MOV only.
