The IP standards test is administered by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and is designed to gauge the level of protection each product offers against dust and water when subjected to thorough examination. Dual voltage for better versatility

The Panasonic EY74A1X57 offers dual voltage technology for powerful performance with either a 14.4V or 18V battery. A special dual voltage circuit detects the voltage of the attached battery pack and controls the current and voltage flows to the tool to ensure optimum performance. With a 14.4V battery pack it's easier to use for longer periods with lightweight compactness, and with an 18V battery pack application speed and working capacity are increased.

Overheat Protection System (OPS)

Panasonic protects the motor by stopping the operation if an increase in temperature (due to electricity current) is detected. The EY74A1X57 features an OPS (Overheat Protection System) to reduce the likelihood of the motor burning out when the tool is overloaded. The motor is automatically stopped when a high temperature is detected in its vicinity, and the tool's HIGH TEMP indicator lights up^*2.
