A powerful 20x optical zoom lens* in a slim body draws
your subjects right up close, and lets you freely capture
decisive sports scenes, along with the natural
expressions of people and animals.

18.1-Megapixal MOS Sensor
The 18.1-megapixel high sensitivity MOS sensor is integrated in the DMC-TZ40 to realise both high quality image recording and high speed signal processing. The newly adopted Wavelet NR (Noise Reduction) in the Venus Engine produces high sensitivity images with reduced noise, even at high ISO settings. The high- speed digital signal output technology produces high speed consecutive shooting at 10 fps in full resolution with mechanical shutter and the Light Speed AF.
Wi-Fi® with NFC
NFC enables extremely easy Wi-Fi set up without any
troublesome procedures. You can turn a smartphone /
tablet into a remote controller for a LUMIX or transfer a
picture by just touching the camera with it.
• The appropriate pairing position of devices varies
depending on the products.
• This function can be used with the NFC compatible device.
1920 x 1080 50p Full HD Video Recording
You can record full HD 1,920 x 1,080 videos in AVCHD Progressive (MPEG-4 / H.264) format. Featuring 50p full HD recording capability, subjects with fast motion or fine details are reproduced clearly.
HYBRID O.I.S + (Hybrid Optical Image Stabiliser)
POWER O.I.S. is upgraded with the inclusion of HYBRID O.I.S.+ for video recording with new 5-axis correction that detects and effectively compensates for the camera's 5 types of movement. This thoroughly suppresses blurring from wide-angle to powerful zoom shots or shooting while walking.
Leica DC Lens with Nano Surface Coating
A 24mm ultra wide-angle 20x optical zoom LEICA DC lens is outstanding in class for its quality and versatility. Plus, the Panasonic's black box technology Nano Surface Coating boasts extremely low reflectance ratio and it is applied for exceptional optical performance with stunning clarity by minimizing flaring and ghosts.
Creative Panorama
LUMIX lets you apply artistic effects to panoramic images. You can choose from various effects to create a dynamic vertical / horizontal panoramic image with a unique touch just by swiveling the camera.
Creative Control / Creative Retouch
The Creative Control (in the recording mode) and the Creative Retouch (in the playback mode) give you the expressive power to turn ordinary situations into highly special scenes.
Level Shot Function
Newly added Level Shot Function detects the horizontal line of recording image and keeps it even if the camera is tilted. It lets users take stable video even in blind recording such as shooting from high angle.
High-speed Videos in MP4 Format
You can record high-speed videos at 100 fps* or 200 fps*
in MP4 format. You can capture scenes that can't be
seen with the naked eye, and play them back in dramatic
slow motion.

GPS and GLONASS
The GPS (Global Positioning System) newly complies with GLONASS (Global Navigation Satellite System) to further enhance its detection accuracy for its increased number of satellites.
Easy Manual Control
You can set the aperture to control the depth of field, and adjust the shutter speed to freeze moving subjects or create a motion blur that exaggerates the feeling of movement. Plus, a total of 4 custom setting patterns can also be memorized to the camera (1 on C1 and 3 on C2).
iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode
In the iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode, the camera does all the
work, leaving you free to compose your shot and capture
the moment. You just press, aim and shoot. The
detection and correction functions go to work to give you
beautiful photos and videos* with maximum ease.

920K-dot Multi-touch Screen
The 3.0-inch large 920,000-dot multi-touch screen enables multi-touch gestures such as tap-click to select or pinching to zoom in/out. It also enables Touch AF, Touch Zoom or Touch Shutter during recording and various playback functions.
Level Gauge
The Level Gauge lets the camera detect the horizontal / vertical angle of view which is convenient to make level in composition.
Marine Case Compatible
The DMC-ZS30 is compatible with the optional marine case DMW-MCTZ40. This case will protect your LUMIX camera all the way to a depth of 148ft (45m). It lets you take clear, beautiful photos underwater.
