Pre-installed V-Log L / V-Log L View Assist

Pre-installed V-Log L / V-Log L View Assist

V-Log L comes pre-installed for 12 stops of dynamic range. Users will enjoy impressively accurate color reproduction with subtle gradations from dark areas to highlights. Since V-Log L has the same V-Gamut characteristics as V-Log, LUTs used with V-Log can be used in color grading. And footage from VariCam series cameras can be seamlessly included in the edit.

The LUT in use is displayed in both the viewfinder and rear monitor images. When the LUT is applied to HDMI output, it can also be confirmed via an external monitor. In addition to preset LUT Vlog_709, custom LUTs can be loaded and used. These features make getting video deliverables just right that much easier.

6K anamorphic video (4992x3744) or 4K anamorphic video (3328x2496) is captured in the 4:3 aspect ratio. Designed to accommodate anamorphic lenses in a wide range of magnification rates, including 1.3x, 1.33x, 1.5x, 1.8x, and 2.0x, the Anamorphic Desqueeze Display function means you can shoot while confirming the cinemascope-size image on a monitor.

7.5x slow motion / 30x quick motion

7.5x slow motion / 30x quick motion

VFR (variable frame rate) functionality supports both overcranking and undercranking. Users have access to 2.5x slow (24p/60 fps) in C4K/4K and 7.5x super-slow (24p/180 fps) in FHD. It is also possible to capture sequences of footage to show the accelerated passing of time by up to 30x normal speed (60p/2 fps). Auto focusing is possible before recording.

4K HDR video

4K HDR video

In all the 10-bit recording modes, you can shoot HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) format for HDR footage. When the content is replayed on HDR-compatible devices, users will enjoy a video experience with ultra-fine gradations from light-to-dark and an incredible dynamic range.

Focus Ring Control (LINEAR/NONLINEAR)

Choose the focus ring control setting that feels right to you: either NONLINEAR, which accelerates the focus movement in accordance with the speed of the focus ring, or LINEAR, which moves the focus at a constant speed in accordance with the rotating angle of the focus ring. When LINEAR is selected, you can set the focus ring rotating angle, enabling you to focus intuitively and accurately in the manner you are accustomed to.

Frame Indicator (Red/Blue)

Frame Indicator (Red/Blue)

A red border indicating video recording and a blue frame indicating streaming can be displayed around the frame, so you will always know the status, helping you to avoid mistakes. This feature can be turned ON or OFF.

Frame Marker

Frame Marker

The frame marker is useful when vertical/horizontal cropping in post production is anticipated. Displayable aspect ratio frames include 2.39:1 and 2.35:1 for cinema and 1:1 and 4:5 for social media, providing a total of 10 patterns to select from.

Vertical video shooting

Vertical video shooting

The camera detects the vertical orientation of video, so the image will rotate automatically when you play it back on your smartphone or other device. This can be turned ON or OFF.

Luminance Spot Meter

Luminance Spot Meter

A subject can be selected with the frame and its luminance displayed as a percentage. When recording in V-Log, the camera displays luminance in stops. Setting 18% gray to equal 0.0 stops is helpful in selecting the optimal exposure value.

Zebra Pattern

Zebra Pattern

Two zebra patterns with two different threshold values are displayed, corresponding to user-set upper and lower luminance limits. This feature allows users to monitor for blown-out highlights, adjust for 18% gray during V-Log L recording, set a luminance range for human faces, and otherwise assist in achieving an optimal exposure level.

WFM/Vectorscope

WFM/Vectorscope

Allows you to precisely check the luminance and chroma color balance when shooting.
