Team Panasonic

Meet our sustainability ambassadors

The Panasonic Group is committed to its long-term environmental vision, "Panasonic GREEN IMPACT," to create a positive impact from actions that reduce our own CO₂ emissions, contribute to avoiding CO₂ emissions of society, and realize a circular economy. In addition to reducing its own CO2 emissions, the group is focused on expanding its contribution to CO2 reduction in society and promoting business activities that strive towards a circular economy.

In line with our sustainability efforts, Panasonic has strategically teamed up with professional athletes who have a shared commitment to sustainable practices. By collaborating with and financially supporting these dedicated athletes, we want to inspire and drive awareness to the importance of fighting climate change. Find out how these exceptional athletes and Panasonic are working together to help driving change.

Meet our sustainability ambassadors

Malaika Mihambo

I’m an Olympic and world champion in long jumping. It was an easy decision for me to join Panasonic’s campaign. We share a common goal of driving sustainability and social change. I am excited to work with Panasonic to raise awareness for environmental protection. By working together, we can all contribute and make big steps towards a greener world!

Hannah Cockroft

My name is Hannah Cockroft. I’m a wheelchair racer from Halifax in the UK. Paris 2024 will be my fourth Paralympic Games. Besides my absolute love for racing, I am passionate about driving forward diversity and inclusion in sports, and I’m dedicated to being an ambassador for sustainability and social change.

Hannah Mills

I’m Hannah Mills, a British competitive sailor from Cardiff and spending time on the water is my first passion. But seeing plastic littering waterways worldwide ignited my second passion … Sustainability. Not only are the oceans our life support system, but they are home to the largest ecosystems on Earth.

Vahiné Fierro

Hi, I’m Vahiné Fierro, a French-Polynesian surfer. I was born in Tahiti and my parents taught me how to surf when I was two. As a surfer, I spend so much time on the ocean. To see that the natural underwater world is so endangered by humans hurts my heart. That’s why I’m committed to protecting this fragile zone and I’m proud to be part of the Coral Gardeners initiative. Restoring the ocean has big impact to fix our blue planet.

Our long-term environmental vision

Our long-term environmental vision

The Panasonic Group aims to achieve both a better life and a more sustainable global environment, by creating a positive impact from actions that reduce our own CO₂ emissions, contribute to avoiding CO₂ emissions of society, and realize a circular economy.

With three areas of impact, we aim to help achieve a reduction and avoidance of over 300 million tons* of CO₂ emissions, equivalent to 1% of the total current global emissions**. Find out more

Our long-term environmental vision

With OWN IMPACT, we will work on achieving zero CO2 emissions within our own value chain, in our business activities, throughout the process from the procurement of raw materials and manufacturing to product distribution, its usage, and disposal or recycling.

Our long-term environmental vision

With CONTRIBUTION IMPACT, we aim to promote the wider use of e.g. electric vehicles running on our automotive battery cells, and our heat-pumps and fuel cells, to help reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions by at least 100 million tons by 2050.

Our long-term environmental vision

Through FUTURE IMPACT, we aim to achieve avoided CO2 emissions of at least 100 million tons by 2050 by creating and disseminating new technologies, such as glass-integrated Perovskite solar cells, to contribute to a to be decarbonised society.

*Based on CO2 emissions data for the year 2020—indicates realization of net zero CO2 emissions from factory production around the world.
**In 2020, energy-related CO2 emissions totalled 31.7 billion tons (source: IEA)

On our CO2 Emissions Reduction Journey

On our CO2 Emissions Reduction Journey

By 2030, we aim to attain net zero CO2 emissions at all our factories

After realising Panasonic group’s first zero-CO2 factory in fiscal 2019, Panasonic Group has entered the phase to increase the number of zero-CO2 factories in fiscal 2024, to total 44 factories.

On our CO2 Emissions Reduction Journey

Note: FY2024 ends March 2025.
***Achieved by 22 plants in FY23: Japan (8), China & NEA (6), SEA/Oceania/India/South Asia/Middle East (3), North & Latin America (4), and Europe & CIS (1). Nine plants achieved this status in FY22. Zero CO2 factory: Facility achieving net-zero CO2 emissions by promoting energy conservation, introducing renewable energy, utilizing carbon credits, etc.  Refer to: Panasonic Group Sustainability Data Book 2023
