Flexible Framing (Open Gate)
Capture what you need and crop what you don't. You can get all the aspect ratios from one shot by using the Open Gate video recording mode which uses full height of the sensor, offering flexibility in framing while keeping high image quality.
MP4(Lite)
If you want to edit it later, the new MP4(Lite) mode 4K video is perfect for transferring to your smartphone. Just use the LUMIX Lab app to crop it to your desired aspect ratio, such as 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1.

Leica is well known for its superior picture quality and has a reputation from users all over the world for its outstanding depiction and expressiveness. Through our L2 Technology collaboration, we learned the picture-making philosophy that Leica has built up over its long history and realized this mode as one of the new expressiveness of the LUMIX camera. It features deep contrasts between black and white.

Frame Marker
The ideal aspect ratio varies by social media. This feature helps you anticipate the right crop as you shoot. Can be used for both still photos and video. Up to 3 frame markers can be displayed simultaneously.*

Extended Zoom Range
The LUMIX S9 zoom range for photos and videos incorporates both Crop Zoom and Hybrid Zoom. Hybrid Zoom is a combination of Optical Zoom and Crop Zoom. This function allows you to expand your range of expressions even if you only carry around minimal equipment.
96MP High Resolution Mode
In this mode, consecutive images are automatically shot while shifting the sensor using the Body Image Stabilizer (B.I.S.) mechanism. Then, the high-speed signal processing engine synthesizes the images into a 96-megapixel equivalent (12,000 x 8,000-pixel) file. This allows you to capture magnificent natural scenery and detailed works of art in ultra-high resolution without using a tripod.
Synchro Scan (Photo)
The LUMIX S9 synchronizes the shutter speed with the flicker frequency of the light source, reducing phenomena such as darkening and horizontal lines.
