Vicky Lawton is a professional advertising photographer working out of the famous Rankin studios in London. Her shots have graced campaigns for some of the world’s largest beauty and fashion brands. For this project, she worked with SPKTRM Beauty. They’re a US based makeup company that champion natural beauty. SPKTRM were the first beauty brand to ban retouching for any of their marketing and they offer over 50 shades of foundation to match a wide range of skin tones.
Vicky selected the LUMIX S1R because of the way the camera renders skin tones and with the quality of the files she was confident enough to drop the images straight into the final brochure layout on set. This allowed Vicky to send the files directly to SPKTRM in the US for approval. Shoot to delivery of files completed in one day.
Vicky and SPKTRM selected a diverse range of models to match the range of SPKTRM products. Each subject was selected through their Instagram channels and some had never been in a professional studio before. This meant that putting each model at ease was essential. But with the LUMIX S1R, its size and mobility compared to her usual medium format camera meant that she could converse and create intimacy with the models without compromising on image quality.
