Improved image stabilisation for quartet of S lenses via free firmware
Four S lenses will produce steadier video footage, and one gains a full stop of compensation for stills, says Damien Demolder
New firmware is set to improve the performance of image stabilisation in video mode for four zoom lenses in the Lumix S series. The free updates are available now, and are for the following lenses:
- Lumix S Pro 70-200mm f/2.8 OIS (S-E70200)
- Lumix S Pro 70-200mm f/4 OIS (S-R70200)
- Lumix S 70-300mm f/3.5-5.6 Macro OIS (S-R70300)
- Lumix S 24-105mm f/4 Macro OIS (S-R24105)
The new firmware for the Lumix S 24-105mm f/4 lens also improves the Dual IS 2 image stabilisation in stills mode, adding a full extra stop to the compensation. This takes the stabilisation for this lens from 6.5 stops to a remarkable 7.5 stops when mounted on the Lumix S1, S1H or S1.
Firmware for Lumix cameras and lenses can be downloaded from the support pages of the Panasonic website.
