Powerful 42x Optical Zoom and 22mm Ultra Wide-angle

The DMC-LZ40 features 22mm ultra wide-angle lens with a 42x optical zoom (35mm camera equivalent: 22 - 924mm) making it possible to capture dynamic landscape and wild animals distant away. The Intelligent Zoom function that extends zoom power to 84x by combining the digital zoom with less deterioration of image quality. The 22mm ultra wide angle lens captures much wider angle of view compared with a standard 35mm camera. It is helpful for shooting dynamic landscape or indoor group portrait.

20-megapixel High-resolution CCD Sensor

The resolution of CCD is upgraded to 20-megapixel for DMC-LZ40, and high performance image processing LSI powerfully supports shooting high quality photo and video.

Unique Filter Effects Photos and Videos

With a variety of filter effects, Creative Control lets you add artistic and original expression to photos and videos.
Creative Panorama function allows you to create dynamic vertical / horizontal panoramic photo with a unique touch just by swiveling the camera.

HDR (High Dynamic Range)

720p HD Video Recording

The DMC-LZ40 records dynamic HD video in 1280 x 720p in Motion JPEG. Recording motion image can be started with a press of an independent motion picture button on the top of the camera, which is extremely convenient for users to switch photo / video shooting instantly. Zooming is also available to draw subjects distant away.

High-power Built-in Flash

The DMC-LZ40 has a built-in GN8.5 equiv. flash that lets you capture even relatively distant subjects with proper exposure.

iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode

Panasonic incorporated the Intelligent Auto mode in pursuit of the ultimate ease of operation and the reduction of miss-shots. The mode is a comprehensive integration of Optical Image Stabilizer, Face Detection, Intelligent Scene Selector and Intelligent Exposure – the camera does all the work, leaving you free to compose shots, aim and shoot the subject.
