PROFESSIONAL’S HAIRSTYLING TUTORIAL
SOFT CURLS
TWISTED HALF-UP
Making Soft Curls
STEP 1:
Sectioning hair for easy styling
Apply your chosen heat protectant to your hair.
Divide your hair into small sections to effectively style this look.
Secure any excess hair with clips.
STEP 2:
Take a bundle of hair
to create curl
Starting with the lowest layer of hair, take a small bundle of hair
about 3-5 cm wide and clamp it firmly between the plates.
• Do not try to style an overabundance of hair at once. Select a bundle of hair small
enough to wrap around the straightener to easily create curls in one pass.
• Bigger sections of hair will produce bouncier, looser curls while smaller sections of
hair produce tighter curls.
STEP 3:
Rotate the straightener
inwards
Slide the straightener down to the spot to curl, and then rotate a
half turn inwards.
Hold the straightener in position momentarily, and then slide it
downward slowly to the tips of the hair.
* Rotate the straightener a full turn for stronger curls.
* Make sure to keep the hair taut while tilting the straightener 10 degrees
towards the back of your head to create elegant curls.
STEP 4:
Curl the rest of your hair
in the same way
Remove the clip to let down the hair in the next section to curl.
Use these same steps to curl the rest of your hair.
Professional’s tips
Mix inward and outward curls
Rotate the straightener under and around to produce an inward
curl, or over and around to produce an outward curl. Change the
angle to reverse the curl.
Alternate the size and direction of curls in random sections of hair
to produce an even more vibrant hairstyle.
STEP 5:
Complete the soft curls
Loosen your curls into place gently with your fingers to finish
your hairstyle.
A Tip for Elegance : The Twisted Half Up
STEP 6:
Split your hair on each side
Split a section of hair on the front right side of your head, and
then twist it gently to keep the hair out of the way. Repeat this
step on the left side as well.
STEP 7:
Give volume to the top-back section
of hair
Lift the top-back section of hair upwards, and then gently comb underneath
the hair toward the scalp to add a little volume.
Let the hair down, and then comb it into place.
STEP 8:
Twist and secure the front section
Pull and twist the hair in place slightly off center at the back of
the head, and then secure it in place with a bobby pin.
Repeat this step for the other side as well.
